The Great UK has been happening this weekend. It's a biannual campaign calling on everyone to go outside and test the quality of freshwater bodies, including rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, canals and wetlands. This vital data provides a useful snapshot in time, and helps to build a clearer picture of water quality across the UK. These events are part of the global FreshWater Watch programme.
If you're interested in taking part in the Autumn WaterBlitz, maybe with a local school or other group, please contact Bollington Town Council who are organising the event.
🧪Time to test!
The is here!
Signed up to take part in the Great UK WaterBlitz this month? The time to test your local freshwater starts NOW!
This weekend, people across the country will be measuring the quality of their local freshwater bodies. These could be:
💧Rivers
💧Lakes, lochs and loughs
💧Ponds
💧Wetlands
💧Reservoirs
🧪Monitoring and protecting these waters helps keep wildlife thriving, ensures clean water for communities, and catches pollution before it causes lasting harm.
This year's testing kits sold out in record time! Weren't able to get yours? You can express your interest for our Autumn Blitz on our website! https://earthwatch.org.uk/greatukwaterblitz/
