Clarence Mill

This year, pupils from St Johnโ€™s Primary School designed and created this board. They decided to focus on the work the children in the school do with the volunteers at the food bank at Life Church in Bollington.

โ€œWe are proud to be volunteers at Bollington Food Bank, highlighting our commitment to our local community and our passion for the Sustainable Development Goals. We have built up a strong relationship with the Food Banks in both Bollington and Macclesfield and thoroughly enjoy giving back to our community.โ€

The Bollington Well Dressing displays have been taken down today.
If you didnโ€™t manage to see them, you can find photos, information about the displays and our local artists who designed the artworks on our page.

The Greg Fountain.

Display designed by local artist, Caroline Constable of โ€˜Run Walk Drawโ€™.

The Greg Fountain, opened in 1904, has been the centrepiece of Bollingtonโ€™s Well Dressing celebrations since the start in 2005. This memorialises the Greg family, who did so much for the village and inhabitants of Bollington.

This dressing celebrates the fantastic Bridgend Centre in Bollington, an independent charity that is right at the heart of the community. Established in 1990, it recently celebrated thirty-five years of care and support to improve the quality of life for residents and community members here. It depends on an enormous number of volunteers to continue to offer the incredibly wide range of activities, resources and interactions that make it such a well-loved and valued place.

This year a total of 118 people volunteered at least once during the year, with approximately 50 volunteering on a weekly basis. Volunteers worked for the Bridgend Centre for 6,243 hours during the year, which is valued at approximately ยฃ90,086 to the local community! This represents support and services for around 2000 people in one form or another. Staggering!

The smaller dressing here has been designed and created by the residents of Mount Hall who have chosen to celebrate all the โ€˜handsโ€™ who represent their community and work together.

Caroline Constable

Bollington-based artist Caroline Constable (Run Walk Draw) combines her passion for running and walking with a love of exploration, adventure, and artistic discovery.

Her work is known for its loose, flowing lines and strong use of colour, often created with marker pens in a continuous line style, resulting in highly expressive pieces, full of energy and movement. Journeys, everyday surroundings, and a curiosity about the world all inform her practice, giving it a sense of exploration while remaining rooted in familiar places.

Caroline was really pleased to be invited to take part in this yearโ€™s Bollington Well Dressing and has enjoyed being involved in something that means a lot to the local community.

The Triptych on Bollington Recreation Ground

Designed by local artist, Jennie Gaywood, current Chair of Bollington Art Group.

KRIV

The fantastic landscape that we have in this area, has been formed and shaped by man over many generations, but sadly these skills are slowly dying out. So, we are incredibly fortunate to have KRIV: The Kerridge Ridge and Ingersley Vale Group is a partnership that was created back in 2001. Their efforts focus on the preservation of the natural and traditional features of the landscape. They work on the restoration of dry-stone walls and other built features, hedge laying, footpath improvements and habitat works to the many mill ponds, woodlands and meadows that characterise our area, and annually repaint White Nancy to keep her pristine!

In 2025 alone, they planted 4,500 trees and hedging plants in Bollington, Pott Shrigley and Macclesfield; 2000 wildflower plug plants at Styal and 7000 sphagnum moss plugs on the Goyt Moors. They also managed to complete over 100 metres of hedge laying.

Jennie Gaywood, current Chair of Bollington Art Group.

Jennie has been a member of Bollington Art Group for many years and owes her success as an artist to the teaching and opportunities it provides. She is currently Chairperson and keeps busy with her committee organising a teaching program and exhibitions. She has exhibited widely, including at our local Bollington Leisure Centre where she organises exhibitions from other local artists connected to Bollington Art Group.

Jennie was a teacher in the Macclesfield area and once retired, developed her passion of painting. She is known for her contemporary style, mostly enjoying the beautiful scenery around Bollington.

Jennie felt honoured to be asked to create designs for this yearโ€™s Well Dressings; being very different from her usual work, she enjoyed the challenge. Her choice of representing the work of KRIV is near to her heart as her husband, Tony, enjoys being a member. On Fridays he works outdoors on so many worthy local projects, while Jennie paints. A good recipe for retirement!

Jennie is on Facebook as Jennie Gaywood artist and Instagram.

Bollington Memorial Garden

The Land Army

Designed by local artist, Caroline Constable of Run Walk Draw - Art by Caroline Constable

We always try to make the dressing in the Memorial Garden a fitting tribute and this year is no exception. The Womanโ€™s Land Army was a crucial British civilian organisation, operating during both world wars, to boost food production. Land Girls had to step in to the shoes of agricultural workers who had enlisted, and performed vital work such as farming, milking and even pest control. Thousands of women worked on Cheshire farms, and Bollington would have been no exception. Their role during the lambing season would have been a very

The Bollington Well Dressing team of volunteers would like to thank everyone who popped down to help petaling today.

We were thrilled that our two local artists, who designed several of this years Well Dressing displays, popped in to join us with a spot of petaling. ๐Ÿ™‚ Both Jennie and Caroline loved seeing the stories behind their artwork being worked on.

It was also great to see Jon and Harriet from Bollington Council. We would like to thank Harriet for being such a great help to us with everything official ๐Ÿซถ

A special 'thank you' too to Wendy, for bringing us some much needed marigolds and to Ann for bringing us lots of beautiful rhododendrons from her garden.

It was nice to meet Malcom today who had never petaled before, he was fantastic!

Another great day of โค๏ธ
