Grandads Front Room CIC

Grandads Front Room CIC We are a Community Support Shop whose aim is to support LOCAL community families and individuals thru actions that make a difference. X Grandad X

We are proud to be run entirely by Volunteers as no-one takes a wage at GFR. Reach out to us if you need help and if we can help we will... If we cannot help we will know someone who can. We do not judge those that struggle as the majority of the team at GFR have faced challenges, insecurities, hard times and desperation before and indeed we still do from time to time. At Grandads we have a simple

philosophy which is to help those that ask without expecting anything in return. If you want to help us to help others then please do so but we ask that you realise that this does not always mean donating money as often just being there to talk to someone and offer kind words can do more than any amount ever can.

Here’s some of the ways we helped in January.

Thanks to your support, we were able to provide over £1,000 worth of essential white goods and furniture to local people and families in crisis, helping them turn houses into homes and rebuild their lives.

Every donation makes a real, practical difference to someone who has nowhere else to turn. If you would like to help us continue supporting vulnerable people in our community, please consider donating to our rolling fundraiser. Every contribution, big or small, helps us keep going.

Thank you for being part of what we do.

Did you spot us in the Bognor Observer this week?

We’re incredibly grateful to have been named as one of the 17 recipients of the Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest Awards, receiving £2,500 to help us provide a warm, safe and welcoming space during the winter months.

This funding helps us keep our doors open to people who need somewhere to go: a place where they can access hot food, warm drinks, emergency supplies, and just as importantly, human connection and kindness.

Like so many other community organisations, we are of course facing increasing costs and rising demand. This generous award will help us keep going a little longer, but to be open and transparent, we wanted to share what it actually costs just to keep our core services running.

Our basic monthly running costs total over £2,500:

• Storage – £820
• Rent – £700
• Emergency food supplies – £300
• Diesel for collections & deliveries – £190
• Phones & internet – £185
• Volunteer refreshments – £160
• Electric – £130
• Van insurance – £120
• Parking – £80
• Shop repairs & maintenance – £60
• Public liability insurance – £50
• Van repairs – £30
• Van tax – £25
• Water – £15
• Waste clearance – £10

(That’s over £30,000 a year, before we can even begin to expand support or meet rising demand.)

Every week we support around 25 local families and individuals who have nowhere else to turn. Demand is growing, not slowing down.

If you’ve ever donated, volunteered, shared our posts, or supported us in any way – thank you. You help make this possible.

If you’d like to help us continue supporting vulnerable people in our community, please consider:
- donating
- volunteering
- sharing this post
- supporting our shop

Together, we keep the lights on for people who need it most 💙

🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of Grandads Front Room — January Grandadder of the Month 🎉

As part of our 10-year celebrations, we are nominating and thanking the best Grandadders in our community each month: the people and businesses who make a difference in our town.

We’re kicking things off by saying a huge thank you to the The Clockhouse Cafe!

As a small, family-run business, the Clock House Café is always happy to help feed homeless and vulnerable people in our community. They provide a vat of soup and bread at Christmas, and this past Christmas alone they fed around 35 people for free. They welcome new visitors to town with open arms, serve a delicious menu, and do it all with warmth, kindness, and positivity.

A truly special family and a cornerstone of our community. Thank you for everything you do.

Thank you so much to the amazing Pagham Pram Race Committee for their generosity and support. We’re incredibly grateful to be one of the first Helping Others Grant recipients of 2026!
This funding will make a real difference to the people and families we support locally.

We truly appreciate everything the Pram Race does for local good causes. It is so much fun and the money collected by the volunteers shaking those buckets goes straight back into the community.

We’re incredibly grateful to Dawn Dunn for setting up this Crowdfunder, and it’s so close to reaching its goal 🙌

Grandads Front Room is run entirely by volunteers, with no one taking a wage. Our van, which we rely on to collect and deliver essential items to people in our community, is currently off the road.

A kind member of the community has stepped forward to offer their services, so we just need to buy the parts for the ESP/brake system, cos at the moment it's mostly braking through hopes and prayers so we don't want to load it with furniture at all.

If you’re able to spare even a small amount to help cover the £500 repair costs, it would make a huge difference and help us get back to supporting those who need us most. ❤️

Thank you for every donation, share, and bit of support.

Happy New Year, Grandadders!

In total, we gave away *£14,609* worth of white goods and furniture in 2025.

And like we always say, if we could put a price on all the hugs Stevie and Danny give for free all day long in the shop, we'd be millionaires.

If you would like to support our work, please donate via our rolling fundraiser at https://localgiving.org/charity/grandads-front-room-cic/

We'll be open again this Saturday 3 January from 10:30 a.m. - pop in and say hello!

Our Story

Grandads Front Room CIC is here to help individuals, community groups, and local charities in Bognor Regis and surrounding villages. We believe that the more we come together, listen and understand each other, the happier, more compassionate and resilient we will be. We welcome all in our community, give to those in need and foster a healthy environment to create a growing community. Grandad’s Front Room is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We operate with the sole intention of helping others who need help, for free. We do this by:

  • Welcoming our community – in our Front Room

  • Giving to our community – whether it is providing essential items of furniture, making referrals to the foodbank or giving food to those in need ourselves, lending an ear, being a shoulder to cry on we try to help as many people as needed and will ALWAYS do so.

  • Creating new communities – bringing people together, helping people to help others
