Cornwall Army Cadet Force Adult volunteers received recognition and Awards at Thursday’s Lord Lieutenant’s awards in Truro.

His Majesty’s Certificate of Meritorious Service recipients were Captain John Green and Warrant Officer Class 2 Jordan Coupland.

Being awarded his sixth bar for his long service medal for volunteering 52 years, was Lieutenant Colonel Macleod, retired Deputy Commandant of Cornwall Army Cadets.

Also, the incoming Lord Lieutenant Cadet, CSM Clewley received his certificate and officially started his new post.

Well done to each of you 👏👏. These awards are a testament to the outstanding commitment, leadership, and service you give.

Congratulations to Cadet Company Serjeant Ley for completing the Master Cadet course at the Frimley Cadet Training Centre today.

A fantastic achievement reflecting his hard work, dedication and commitment to the Army Cadets. You should be incredibly proud of this success and the example you set to your fellow cadets in Cornwall. 💪

Cadet Gibraltar Company Serjeant Major, Alfie Bennett, ages out today so we have to unfortunately see him go. He’s off to join the South West Ambulance Service which is fantastic as he is a great first aider. He has also applied to join 6 Ri**es (reserves). Army Cadets gives its cadets and volunteers many skills to help in their careers, family and social lives. Through support and positive influence, the cadets can grow in confidence, make new friends and become leaders in their chosen careers.

As a part of National Cadets Week, open evenings took place across Cornwall again. Caborne, Hayle, Wadebridge and Truro all had successful nights with lots of new potential cadets and adult volunteers, as well as families attending.

The focus yesterday was first aid, but all other aspects of the cadet experience were demonstrated too including fieldcraft, drill and more.

National Cadet Week – Cadets Save Lives!

Yesterday, as part of National Cadet Week, we celebrated Cadets Save Lives Day — showcasing the incredible first aid skills, knowledge and confidence of our cadets across Cornwall!

Cadet detachments from across the Dutchy put their skills to the test, demonstrating their ability to respond to emergencies and potentially save lives in front of parents, guardians and members of the public during open evenings. Visitors were shown how to do CPR and many walked home with lovely fake wounds!

It was fantastic to see our cadets stepping up, showcasing their training and demonstrating the importance of learning life-saving skills. A huge well done to everyone who took part, and a big thank you to all the staff, volunteers, families and supporters who helped make it such a brilliant event!
