Looking for relatives of the late John Osborn

Artist Elizabeth-Jane Grose is making art-work to be shown in Bodmin and has chosen to focus on families separated by war, sometimes losing a person altogether.

For one element of the artwork she will create landscapes which recall the two places where a soldier from Bodmin was born and died. She has focused on members of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry who died in France in the First World War. From these few she has chosen to represent the two places from the life of Lance Corporal John Osborn(we believe this is his photo). He was born on 2 November 1891, the son of Priscilla (formerly Heal) and Henry Osborn.

If you are related to John Osborn, and have any family stories of him to share, Elizabeth-Jane would love to hear from you, and to share what information she has gathered about him. In the first instance, please contact us here at Bodmin Creative Studio and Gallery on Fore Street and we will put you in touch with Lizzy-Jane.

Take advantage of the free parking at Dennison Road and Fore Street carparks today to shop local and support your local businesses in the run up to Christmas. It is Small Business Saturday today and if everyone spent only £5 in a local small business it would make a huge difference to our business community and local economy. Or you can spend that £5 on Temu and support the Chinese economy and very possibly mega businesses using exploitative work practices.
Someone came into the Gallery yesterday saying how wonderful the town was 30 years ago with lots of people shopping in lots of shops - and how sad it is now. Of course then people did the majority of their shopping in the town centre. Noone expects that to be the case again but people coming into town and spending even a modest amount would make a postive difference.
Parking is free today so please come and support your local businesses. They need you and you want a thriving town centre. Its quite simple really -support your local businesses or see them disappear.

Park for free in all Cornwall Council pay and display car parks this Small Business Saturday - December 6.

We're also offering FREE use of the Truro Park and Ride this Saturday.
