CAP Debt Centre - North Cornwall

CAP Debt Centre - North Cornwall Christians Against Poverty is specifically tailored to help financially & socially disadvantaged people out of debt.

The combination of face-to-face visits, a Befriending service & our debt counselling empowers individuals to work themselves out of debt. CAP's service includes budgeting and specialist advice, creditor negotiation and a full insolvency service. To help our clients stick to their budgets we set up a debt management plan. Clients then make one weekly, biweekly or monthly payments into their plan to

cover their debt repayments which CAP then distributes to their creditors. CAP's service is completely free and available to all, regardless of faith, age, gender, race disability or sexual orientation. We work alongside different community agencies to help those that need it most, and seek to work in partnership with other free debt advice organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, housing associations, local councils, social services and other community groups.

ALL WELCOME (including children & families) to join us for our Easter Day Service to celebrate the Risen King! There will be singing, Easter fun games for all the children, crafts & chocolate eggs... plus a message of hope for everyone! 🥳

Our next CAP drop-in session will be on Monday 16th March at Wadebridge Foodbank (11am-12:30pm) and at Bodmin Foodbank (1pm-2:30pm).

Poem from a CAP client

A Christmas Poem

From darkness deep, where debts did bind,
And shadows weighed upon my mind,
A hand reached out, a light broke through,
God’s gentle love was shining true.
Through CAP’s care, the chains were gone,
A brand-new chapter had begun.
No longer dread at each closed door,
But peace and courage to explore.
Now letters open without fear,
A future bright, a pathway clear.
A job that serves, a heart that gives,
A life redeemed — a soul that lives.
Love has found me, strong and kind,
A partner who supports my mind.
Together walking, hand in hand,
With faith that builds on solid sand.
Though grief and storms have marked my past, God’s mercy held me firm, steadfast.
He never left, He never strayed,
His plans of hope were always laid.
And in my church I see,
A family warm, embracing me.
Their kindness shines, their welcome true,
A glimpse of Christ in all they do.
