Cotswold District Local Plan Regulation 19 consultation now open.

The consultation will run for six weeks from 24th August 2026 until 5th October 2026.

Cotswold District Council is producing a new Local Plan to manage future development across the district up to 2043. An up-to-date Local Plan is the best way to protect communities from speculative development and ensure that new homes, jobs and infrastructure are delivered in the right places.

The Regulation 19 consultation is your final opportunity to comment on the Local Plan before it is submitted to the Government for independent examination. At this stage, comments must relate to whether the plan is legally compliant, sound and capable of being delivered. The Council encourages everyone with an interest in the future of the district to review the proposals and have their say before the consultation closes on 5th October 2026.

Hard copies of the Local Plan are available across the district in libraries and at the two office sites (Cotswold District Council, Trinity Road, Cirencester and Moreton Area Centre, High Street, Moreton-in-Marsh).

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our own busy bee, Clare Turner, who has resigned from Blockley Parish Council.
From all of us at Blockley Parish Council we extend our thanks for your time, dedication and commitment to our community over the past seven years. Your hard work and contribution have been greatly appreciated and you have made a real difference to our parish and parishioners.

Congratulations on your new adventure, we wish you all the best for the future!

Being a councillor does not require specialist knowledge of local government; it is about commitment to making our community work effectively for everyone. People from all sorts of different backgrounds and experience bring valuable perspectives, information and energy to the group.

We would also love to hear from any residents living in Draycott or Aston Magna, at present we don’t have any councillors representing these communities. If you live in one of these areas and want the best for your friends and neighbours, then please do get in touch and be the difference. It is a great opportunity to have a voice in our community and help make a difference locally.

- 01/09/26 - 02/09/26 07.00am - 7.00pm. Aston Magna to Draycott. Carriageway patching.

- 01/09/26 - 11/09/26 (excl. weekends) 9.30am - 3.30pm. A424 Stow on the Wold to A44 Junction. For essential Ash Dieback tree work.

- 03/09/26 09.00am - 3.30pm Draycott to Blockley. Draycott Bridge. For concrete testing works.

- 08/09/26 - 10/09/26 - Station Road, Blockley, by the train crossing. To allow for the installation of pressure monitoring equipment by Thames Water.

💡 Could your community project benefit from a share of £4.7 million?

Applications are now open for Cotswold District Council's latest Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding round.

Funding is available for projects that improve local communities, including:

✅ Community facilities

✅ Public spaces

✅ Walking and cycling routes

✅ Sports and recreation infrastructure

Previous projects include Fairford's 3G sports pitch, cycle parking improvements and repairs to Redesdale Hall in Moreton-in-Marsh.

Registration is now open for our Baby & Me groups starting in September/October. Baby & Me is specifically for parents and their babies aged 0-6 months. The sessions run once a week for 8 weeks and cover a whole variety of topics, including feeding, sleep, pelvic health, play and communication, first aid and parent and baby movement. Crucially, they also give parents the chance to meet others, ask questions and chat in a welcoming and supportive environment. We even offer a cup of tea and a biscuit for good measure! ☕️🍪

If you'd like to know more, drop us an email with your name, the location you'd like to attend and the age of your baby. In return, we'll send you a simple registration form to help you get signed up. Please note that all our groups are free to attend but you must pre-register, they aren't drop-in sessions. We should also mention that places are limited and tend to be popular, so we run a waiting list once places are allocated. We’d encourage you to get in touch sooner rather than later if you'd like a place! 🥰

As schools break up for the summer holidays, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) is reminding residents how to stay safe at home, on holiday and outdoors.

The service is encouraging people to follow its advice, focusing on five key areas: holidays, travel, home, water and the outdoors.

Holidays
• Fit a working smoke alarm in caravans as well as homes.
• Never use candles in caravans or tents.

Travel
• Plan journeys in advance.
• Check vehicles are safe, legal and roadworthy.
• Never drive when tired or unfit to do so.

Home
• Have a working smoke alarm on every floor and test it regularly.
• Make an escape plan – get out, stay out and call 999.
• Carry out a bedtime safety check, including closing doors and unplugging appliances.
• Use approved chargers and follow manufacturers’ instructions.
• Check on elderly neighbours, friends and relatives during hot weather.

Water
• Stay away from waterways when heading home after a night out.
• Swim at sites where there are lifeguards if possible.
• Always supervise children around water.
• Learn about cold water shock and water safety at https://nationalwatersafety.org.uk/

Outdoors
• Dispose of ci******es properly and never throw them from car windows.
• Do not light fires in the countryside and follow The Countryside Code - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-countryside-code
• Take litter, bottles and glass home to help prevent fires.
• Never leave a barbecue unattended and keep it clear of anything that could catch fire.
• Only use barbecues outdoors and in well-ventilated areas.

Caring for someone living with dementia? You don't have to do it alone. 💙

Looking after a loved one with dementia can be rewarding, but it can also be emotionally and physically demanding. Sometimes, simply talking with people who understand can make all the difference.

The Dementia Friendly Café at Campden Home Nursing - Jecca's House, offers a warm, welcoming space where family carers can meet experienced dementia carers, share experiences, ask questions and receive practical support.
