Thanks to everyone who came & supported the Bletchingley Village Fair yesterday! The weather was just right & we hope you all enjoyed it! Proceeds will go to local charities/projects and of course funding the Seniors Christmas party. Huge thanks to all the folk who helped on the day - we couldn’t do it without you 🥰 We are a small (and aging!) committee so would love to have some new & young blood getting involved. Specific roles would be taking on liaison for sponsorship, compiling/producing the programme, promoting the raffle & advertising. If you feel you could help with any of this, please contact us. Once again thanks to everyone for their continued support. Enjoy the rest of the Summer 🌞

Village Fair Grand Raffle
The Village Fair Grand Raffle raises the funds to pay for the Annual Christmas Party that we hold in the Red Lion for the oldest members of our parish. We invite over a hundred of our ‘senior citizens’ to a traditional Christmas roast dinner, with all the trimmings, usually accompanied by music and followed by a good old singalong and a Pub Quiz. We usually have between 60 and 70 turning up for a friendly afternoon with chat, a drink and a laugh.
To pay for this, we have to sell the raffle tickets, and to sell the raffle tickets we have to have great prizes. We always get a great response from the local business community to sponsor the prizes, and this year is no exception. Prizes range from wine and spirits from local shops, golf at the local club, and MOT at the local garage, to banger racing at Smallfields and of course cash prizes are always popular. The Star Prize this year, gifted by Mark and Victoria Wickenden, is a three-night stay in a suite at Fort Augustus on the banks of Loch Ness, with £200 spending money. A recent review (in the Daily Telegraph) of the immediate area listed the multitude of brilliant activities available, from castles and mountains, history and culture (including the famous Glenmorangie single malt), watersports and shopping. To put this prize into perspective, comparable sites around Loch Ness offer rooms in the region of £400+. A really great prize!
Tickets are on sale now, only £1 each, over the bar at the Red Lion, Bletchingley; from D.D Services Godstone; or from your local committee member (Dick, Ian, Tryfana, Shane Dave C or Mandy). And yes, we accept plastic! Remember, you have to be in it to win it. Winning tickets are drawn on the Meadow at the end of the Fair, and winners are notified immediately.
