Blairgowrie District Community Shed - BDCS

Blairgowrie District Community Shed - BDCS A group that allows men & women over 18 to come together to learn and practice skills and for social interaction. Come join us!

Our new HQ is in the Old Granary, CandleHouse Lane, Coupar Angus. Our equipment is in place and we are fully operational Welcome to our Shed – (Formerly known as the Strathmore Men's Shed) where good company, friendly banter, and hands-on hobbies come together. We’re a community of like-minded folk who enjoy spending time together, whether that’s working with our hands, sharing a cuppa, or just ha

ving a chat. We meet regularly at our space:

🛠 Tuesdays – from 6:00 PM to around 9:00 PM
🧰 Thursdays – 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (mainly workdays for our refit, but anyone’s welcome to drop by for a natter and a brew)

🍳 On alternate Saturdays, we host “Sheddybrek” – a laid-back breakfast social where members bring along something tasty to cook on our hotplate. No work, just laughs, conversation, and putting the world to rights – usually wrapping up around midday. We also host special evenings, from film nights and music sessions to hands-on demos (yes, some included flashing lights and the occasional bang!). It’s all about having fun, and we’re always open to new ideas. If you fancy running something, go for it – it’s your shed too! So far, many of our activities lean towards traditional men’s hobbies – woodworking, metalwork, and the like – but we’re keen to broaden that. We plan to introduce more crafts that may appeal to the feminine side too, including:

🧵 Paper crafting

🧶 Knitting and spinning

🪡 Needlecraft (we’re working on getting sewing machines!)

We also welcome women to try their hand at woodworking, metalworking (we’ve got equipment for wrought iron bending!), or any other project they fancy. Ideas like a photography group or bridge club are also on the cards – whatever the members want, we’ll support it. But hey, there’s no pressure to “do” anything – if you just want to swing by for tea, coffee, biscuits, and good company, that’s more than enough. Membership is open to anyone aged 18 and over, and younger guests are welcome if accompanied by an adult. We’re here to build, share, learn, laugh – and most importantly – connect.

And whilst we're doing quick reminders....here's another one. This is for members only. It's not as exciting as the Spring Fair but it's a necessity for the Shed, which is a registered SCIO. It's the AGM postponed from earlier in the financial year. All members are welcome to attend, if they wish to (it's not mandatory that you do). Please let us know if you intend to come along so we can gauge whether we have enough space within the Shed. Looking forward to seeing you there.🙂

Just a quick reminder of the upcoming Spring Fair at Blairgowrie Town Hall on 25th April. There are always lovely things available to buy and the proceeds from raffle tickets on sale will all go to help pay our bills here at the shed. You can come speak to some of us there too if you'd like. We'd love you to be there.🙂
