Calling our community – Blairgowrie Riding for the Disabled needs your help!
More than 50 years since our group was founded, we are more successful than ever with a waiting list to join our lessons.
And that’s where YOU could come in! We have a great team of volunteers in our friendly group, who help out with a variety of tasks from looking after our ponies to supporting our fundraising events.
Now, with a packed season of riding sessions running, we are keen to add to our team to help with two of our most important activities - supporting our riders at our weekly lessons and poo picking our field.
Rhona Christie, our chairperson, said: “Our amazing volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Although we are a relatively small group, we are very busy and rely on our team to ensure that adults and children alike can continue to enjoy interacting with our ponies and learning new skills, all while having great fun!
“I’m sure each of our volunteers would agree that working with Blairgowrie RDA is immensely rewarding. We feel a great sense of achievement when we see how much our riders get out of their lessons – it’s a wonderful feeling.”
Our lessons are held on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday and Thursday mornings, while poo picking is carried out every day. You don’t even need to have any experience of working with horses as we’ll show you the ropes, so if you can spare just a few hours a week, why not get in touch? We’d love to hear from you.
Applicants should be aged 16 or over.
