This week for , it’s all about celebrating what cadets get up to, the opportunities they take part in and the skills they pick up along the way. At 2519 Strathmore Squadron, we’ve got plenty to celebrate!

We’re pleased to recognise three of our cadets who have recently achieved new qualifications and badges:

📚 Corporal Steele has earned his Senior Classification Badge, marking another step forward in his cadet career.

⛑️ Cadet Houston has earned his Essential First Aid Badge, gaining skills that could be useful both within cadets and in everyday life.

🫡 Cadet Czerwinski has earned his Blue Leadership Badge, showing the effort he has put into developing his leadership skills.

Three different achievements, but all showing exactly what being part of 2519 is about!Learning new things, taking on challenges and working towards something you can be proud of.

Well done to all three! We’re proud to have you representing 2519! 👏🏻

We’re proud to have Flying Officer Robertson as part of the 2519 team! From his own time as a cadet to now supporting the next generation, he’s seen first-hand just how much being part of the RAF Air Cadets can give young people!🫡

Have a read of his story below 👇

As part of National Cadet Week, we’re hearing from one of our staff across Central Scotland Wing about their experiences with the RAF Air Cadets.

Today, we’re hearing from Flying Officer Robertson👇

🗣️ What made you decide to become a CFAV?

“I’d been a cadet from 15 years old at 2400 (Lawside Academy) Squadron in Dundee. I eventually became a member of staff to give back the cadet experience to the youth of Dundee that I got.”

💭 What’s been your favourite part of being a CFAV?

“Every single time a cadet says ‘I can’t do it’ or ‘I won’t do it!’ They end up doing it, and you can see the confidence grow and they become better cadets and people.”

⭐ What’s something you’ve learned from the cadets?

“Don’t be afraid of a new experience and don’t let it beat you!”

❤️ What’s a moment that has stayed with you?

“One of our cadets had a particularly difficult year. The whole Squadron supported him throughout the year and gave him something to take his mind off life. He unanimously won Cadet of the Year and the whole squadron shook his hand and said well done. He looked absolutely stunned!”

🙌 What would you say to someone thinking about becoming a CFAV?

“Do it! Everyone has something to offer the youth in their community. Even one hour a month can have a dramatically positive impact on a cadet’s life.”

National Cadet Week is a chance to celebrate the thousands of cadets and volunteers who make the RAF Air Cadets what it is!

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Sergeant Cook has successfully completed his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award! 👏

This one is a particularly special achievement for us at 2519 Strathmore Squadron, as Sergeant Cook is the first cadet in over five years to complete and receive their Bronze DofE Award.

Sergeant Cook has put a lot of time and effort into working towards his award alongside everything else he gets involved with at squadron, so it’s fantastic to see him reach this milestone.

It also feels like the perfect time to celebrate this achievement as we mark . The DofE is just one of the many opportunities available through Royal Air Force Air Cadets, giving our cadets the chance to challenge themselves, learn new skills and achieve things they can be proud of.

It’s achievements like this that make us so proud of the cadets we have at 2519. Well done, Sergeant Cook! 🥳

We’re looking forward to seeing what you achieve next!

✈️ IT’S NATIONAL CADETS WEEK! ✈️

From 5 - 11 October, we’re celebrating the very first National Cadets Week! 🎉

But what exactly is it? 🤔

National Cadets Week is a chance to celebrate everything that makes being part of the cadets great! The skills we learn, the friendships we make, the challenges we take on, the communities we support, and the incredible young people and adult volunteers who make it all possible.

🌟 So what should you be doing this week?

📸 SHARE IT - Show people what your Squadron gets up to! Share photos and stories from your activities.

🙌 CELEBRATE - Give a shout out to your fellow cadets, instructors, volunteers and everyone who helps make your Squadron what it is.

🗣️ TELL YOUR STORY - What have you learned through cadets? What’s your favourite activity? What achievement are you most proud of?

👋 SPREAD THE WORD - Know someone who might enjoy being part of RAFAC? Tell them about us and encourage them to find out more!

This week, let’s show everyone what RAFAC is all about! 📢

Recently, our Cadet Alfie Mason headed to Barry Buddon Training Centre to take part in Exercise Fortitude Dawn with cadets from across Central Scotland Wing!

Alfie took part in a full day of fieldcraft on Saturday, followed by night operations and a simulated base defence. The weekend finished with another base defence exercise on Sunday morning. 🪖

A busy weekend for Alfie and a great chance to get stuck into fieldcraft and put some of the skills he's learnt at cadets into practice! 🫡

Well done Alfie!

A massive well done to Flight Sergeant Kimber and Corporal Whiteside, who completed their next march towards their Bronze Road Marching qualification!! 🥾

We also want to say well done to Sergeant Cook and Corporal Scott, who have completed their additional kilometres towards their Silver Road Marching qualification! 💪

The group took on the 20km route around Crieff and up to Glen Turret Dam, which is no small task! It was a long day, but everyone put the effort in and got it done.

It’s great to see our staff and cadets getting stuck into road marching and working towards their next qualifications. Well done to all four! 👏

We’re super pleased to say that our first group of cadets have successfully completed and passed the Young Firefighters course with Blairgowrie Fire Station! 🚒

A massive well done to everyone who took part. It’s been a great opportunity for our cadets to learn more about the work of the fire service, pick up some new skills and experience something a bit different from our usual squadron activities.

A huge thank you to the team at Blairgowrie Fire Station for giving our cadets the opportunity and taking the time to teach them.

We’re looking forward to seeing what our next group gets up to! Well done everyone! 🧯👏🏻

A massive well done to our new Corporal Scott! 👏🏻

We’re really proud to see Calder promoted to Corporal. He’s put a lot of effort into his time at 2519, both on squadron nights and by getting involved in activities and events across the Wing.

Scott has already achieved his Bronze Wings, Senior Cadet Classification, Bronze Road Marching and Bronze Radio, and he’s now looking forward to taking on his Silver Road Marching and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh.

It’s great to see all the work Scott has been putting in paying off, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he gets up to next!

Well done Corporal Scott! 🎉
