So true

Every hard season of my life has arrived right before the best thing that ever happened to me.

I broke my back and was sure my life as I knew it was over. It became the very reason I found the grit to climb Everest.

The year we married, Shara lost her father, and a couple of months later I lost mine. It was a brutal start to a marriage. But out of that grief came a bond between us that nothing has broken since.

I have had TV shows cancelled, expeditions that did not work, plans that fell apart. Getting back up after each one is what shaped everything that came next.

Over and over, I have watched the same pattern hold. Battle, then blessing. The storm, then the calm. The darkest hour arriving right before a dawn I could not yet see.

I do not fully understand why life is built this way. But I have lived it far too many times to call it coincidence. So now, when I find myself cornered and afraid in the middle of the fight, I try to hold onto one quiet thought. This battle is not the end of my story. It is so often the very thing that comes right before the blessing.

If you are deep in a hard season right now, what if it is not your ending, but the ground your next chapter is about to grow from?
