✨ Friday Thought ✨

The excitement of half term is over, school bags are back out, routines have returned, and for many families the reality of the school term has settled back in.

If this week has felt harder than you expected, you’re not alone.

Transitions can be challenging for neurodivergent children and young people, even when they’re returning to something familiar. What can look like a “normal” week on the outside can take a huge amount of energy, masking, processing, and emotional regulation on the inside.

As we head into the weekend, remember that success doesn’t always look like perfect attendance, completed homework, or a calm week.

Sometimes success looks like:
✨ Getting through the school gates.
✨ Making it to Friday.
✨ Recovering after a difficult day.
✨ Knowing when your child needs rest.
✨ Giving yourself grace when things haven’t gone to plan.

There are only around six weeks left until the summer holidays. If things feel tough right now, take it one day, one week, one step at a time.

Be kind to yourselves this weekend. You’ve made it through another week.

✨ Friday Thought ✨

As TT and half term draw to a close, it’s worth remembering that not every child will be feeling rested, excited, or ready for the week ahead.

Some children thrive on routine and predictability, and changes to their normal schedule can feel overwhelming rather than enjoyable. What looks like difficult behaviour on the surface may simply be a child trying to navigate big feelings, sensory overload, anxiety, or uncertainty.

As we head into the weekend, let’s try to lead with curiosity rather than judgement. A little patience, understanding, and compassion can make a world of difference.

Every child is doing the best they can with the tools they have, and sometimes what they need most is for the adults around them to meet them where they are.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. 🌈

💜 THE VOTES ARE IN! 💜

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, comment and share their thoughts on our Parish Walk logo.

The result was clear:

💜One Heart: 16 votes
💜💜 Two Hearts: 4 votes

So the winning design is… Logo 1! 🎉

We absolutely loved reading everyone’s interpretations of both designs, and it was lovely to involve our community in the decision-making process. Thank you for helping us choose.

Our Parish Walk T-shirts have now been dropped off for printing and we can’t wait to show you the finished result! 👕

A huge thank you once again to the wonderful Amelia Lang for designing the logos for us. We genuinely loved both designs, which is why we needed your help to decide! 💜

Now the countdown to the Parish Walk really begins…

Thank you to everyone who has already sponsored us and supported our fundraising efforts. Every donation helps us continue building and growing Diverse Minds Community for neurodivergent children, young people and their families across the Isle of Man.

Keep an eye out for our bright T-shirts on the day! 🌈

📣 WE NEED YOUR HELP! 💜

As many of you know, Team Diverse Minds Community will be taking on the Parish Walk to raise funds to help us continue supporting families and working towards bigger events and projects in the future.

We’re currently finalising our Parish Walk T-shirts and can’t decide which logo to use… so we thought we’d let you choose! 👇

💜 Logo 1: One heart representing each of us walking for the community, showing how every individual matters.

💜💜 Logo 2: Two hearts together representing connection, support, understanding and community.

Which one would you choose?

Comment 1 or 2 below and feel free to tell us why!

A huge thank you to my wonderful friend Amelia Elizabeth, who kindly designed these logos for us. We absolutely love them, which is exactly why we’re struggling to choose!

And while you’re here, thank you so much to everyone who has already sponsored our Parish Walk challenge. Your support means the world to us and helps us continue building a stronger, more inclusive community for neurodivergent children, young people and their families across the Isle of Man.

If you’d still like to sponsor us, every donation makes a difference 💜 🌈

P.S. We genuinely can’t decide, so don’t leave us hanging… vote below! 😂💜

✨ Friday Thought ✨

To anyone ending this week feeling exhausted, overstimulated, unseen, or like you’re constantly fighting battles nobody else can see… you are not failing.

So many of our families are carrying invisible loads every single day. Appointments, school struggles, emotionally based school avoidance, masking, meltdowns, paperwork, advocacy, guilt and exhaustion… while still somehow showing up with love for our children.

If your child hasn’t made it into school this week, please know that does not define you as a parent, and it does not define your child either. Sometimes survival, regulation and feeling safe comes before everything else.

Please remember this weekend: You do not have to earn rest. You do not have to justify your child’s needs. And you are absolutely not alone in this community. 💜💙🩵💚
