*TOPIC : WHEN GOD WITHDRAWS HIS VOICE*

_*“And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.” 1st Samuel 28:6.*_

*MESSAGE*
God is a speaking God. From the beginning, He communed with Adam and Eve in the garden, revealing His desire for fellowship with humanity. But sin entered, and sin brought separation. The same tragedy is seen in the life of Saul. He was once chosen, anointed, and given divine instruction, but through repeated disobedience, pride, and rebellion, he gradually lost sensitivity to God. When he later inquired of the Lord, heaven was silent. This is a fearful condition: to still seek answers from God, yet find that the voice once available has been withdrawn.

Saul's life warns us that divine silence is not always a test; sometimes it is the consequence of persistent disobedience. God speaks, guides, corrects, and warns, but when His instructions are repeatedly ignored, the heart becomes hardened and spiritual sensitivity becomes dull. A person may continue religious activities and still lose the inner witness of divine guidance. Partial obedience is not true obedience. Selective obedience is a dangerous form of rebellion. When God speaks through His Word, His servants, His Spirit, or His church, we must respond quickly and humbly.

It is dangerous to normalise disobedience while expecting divine direction. Sensitivity to God's voice must be preserved through prompt obedience, godly fear, repentance, and a tender heart. We must ask ourselves sincerely: when God speaks to us personally or congregationally, do we obey? Do we only respond to instructions that suit us, or do we submit fully to His will? Let us not grieve the Spirit or harden our hearts. Instead, let us return to obedience, so that the guidance of God will not be withdrawn from us, our families, our churches, and our generations.

1. SHUN SATANIC THREATS
The weapon that Satan uses to gain people to his side is bragging, and he terrifies people to put fear in them; that is why Jesus called him a liar for he demonstrates what he cannot do. The servants of Sennacherib spoke to terrify the people of Judah, placing the Assyrian king as God; that's how many people with little power and influence portray themselves and forget that they are not God. They do this to make people fear and tremble under their siege but those that can be free are those that know their God because they will shun the threats of Satan and his emissaries. The best way to deal with such evil people is to be silent and pray to stop their havoc. This was the method Hezekiah used to silence the Assyrian king: he told the people not to answer him, unlike his former attitude of giving the Assyrian king all the temple's money and gold. Still, he came to his senses having seen that the evil people can not be pleased. Shun the threat of evil people in your family, work, and in your house; they cannot do anything that God does not allow, they may lie but God cannot give his lovely people into the hand of the wicked. If there is any threat, the best thing to do is to examine your relationship with God; Scripture says If God be for us who can be against us? You have been given the power to terrify them in your prayers; they know this. That's why they will threaten you that you may not be able to pray but on the day you cry out in prayer; your enemy shall turn away from you.

2. DON'T BE STUBBORN
Many people call stubbornness faith meanwhile they are different things. While faith believes things without evidence, stubbornness fails to agree without reason. Judah who was warned by Prophet Jeremiah that she should not go to Egypt went eventually, and the words of God by His mercy still went to retrieve them from Egypt yet they proved stubborn saying they would continue in their idolatry. The scripture says that their eyes have been opened once; if they fall, restoring them is not easy. We can understand why God did not allow the people of Israel to see the grave of Moses if people can continue to burn incense to the serpent's image that Moses made even till the time of Hezekiah, and many idols they worshipped, and God said he woke up early to call, and He sent his prophets to them but they proved stubborn. Having seen others taken into exile who were supposed to teach them, yet their stubbornness did not allow them. We also have some people in the church, family, and friends who are stubborn; many wives, husbands, and children are stubborn. They don't listen to correction even when the Lord's messages come to correct them. Stubbornness is the work of the flesh and it's also an end-time syndrome; it's in many people, and we need to pray to eradicate such a spirit from our lives, or else it leads to hell. Don't be stubborn. Please pray that all aspects of stubbornness in my life, I receive power to conquer them all in Jesus' name.

3. CONTROL THE WORLD WITH PRAYERS
Apostle Paul instructed Timothy to pray for all the people especially the rulers, saying that doing so would make us live peacefully; this is telling us to rule our world with our prayers. The difficult husband, wife, children, boss, workers, rulers, pastors, etc; can change through our prayers; we can get all that we want through our prayers, not by violence, politics, or tricks. When we pray, God will change the bothering situations. Some might say they have been praying, but prayer cannot be too much; pray till your joy shall be full is the instruction. Prayer gives people power to do well though it might not be in their will to do good things; prayers will compel them. Daniel prayed for twenty-one days and he changed the captivity of the Jews in Babylon; God revealed many things to him; some are still waiting for fulfilment after many have been fulfilled. Don't give up because your prayers will be answered in Jesus' name. Let us understand that God hears all prayers, and He knows the appropriate time to fulfil His will; our problem is that we want our answer now, but God does it in His own time. Please wait for God's time; though it may seem delayed, in Him is yea and amen.

*TOPIC : AVOIDING A LIFE OF SELF-DECEPTION*

_*“Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.” Acts 8:13.*_

*MESSAGE*
In the days of the early church, sorcerers and magicians were influential in many communities. Simon the sorcerer had deceived the people of Samaria with wonders and was regarded as someone with great power. Yet his power did not come from God; it was rooted in darkness. When Philip preached Christ, Simon appeared to believe, was baptised, and continued with Philip. Outwardly, he seemed to have joined the company of believers, but inwardly his heart had not been transformed. This is a serious warning that external association with spiritual things is not the same as true conversion.

Simon saw the apostles laying hands on believers, and the Holy Spirit was given. Instead of seeking God with a repentant heart, he offered money, hoping to buy spiritual power. Peter rebuked him sharply, saying that his heart was not right in the sight of God. This reveals the danger of self-deception. A person can appear spiritual, participate in church activities, admire miracles, and even be baptised, yet remain unchanged within. Self-deception confuses activity with authenticity and appearance with transformation. God does not judge by outward display; He weighs the heart.

This message is a call to sincerity before God. It is possible to be involved in spiritual things and still be spiritually misaligned. The question is not only, “What am I doing?” but “Who am I becoming?” Every hidden work of darkness, double life, false assurance, wrong motive, bitterness, and secret bo***ge must be brought before the Lord in repentance. A counterfeit may look genuine for a while, but when tested, it has no true value. Therefore, let your heart be right before God. Walk in truth, reject every contrary spirit, and allow the Holy Spirit to transform you from within.

*ACTION POINT*
✍️ Examine your heart before God and reject every form of self-deception, hidden sin and outward religion without inward transformation.

1. THE MANNER OF THE GOD OF THE LAND
Every land has its dos and don'ts, and God is the God of the universe and can use anything to draw people to His knowledge, they reported to Nebuchadnezzar how Lions killed some people among those he imported to Israel from the land of Assyria after he had captured the Jews but the strange people did not know the manner of the God of Israel. Nebuchadnezzar brought five other nations to Samaria to join the less privileged he left and took all the Israelites' influential, rich, and wise people to Babylon. But these people brought their idols to the land which made God angry with them and He sent Lions to kill some of them. Surprisingly, Nebuchadnezzar ordered and sent a priest back to the land of Samaria to teach the people the law of the God of the land. And the people eventually feared the God of the land whom the Israelites forsook. Jesus told the Pharisees that if they stopped the people from praising God, the stones would rise to glorify God. Many people do not know the God they claim they are serving, and some do not follow His ways. Our duty is to teach the nations the way of the Lord and baptise them; this is the Great Commission given to us as Christians. The priest sent back to teach the people would have taken the advantage to build up the people for the Lord but nothing much came out of this; maybe he was biased or he was careless because this was supposed to be an opportunity to draw many people to the God of Israel but we can see that the people have the fear of God yet they still serve their idols. This is how we often lose the opportunity to save sinners to Christ, some because of fear, some are carefree, instead of showing Christ to the sinners they point to church, pastor, ministry, church doctrines, and many other things to the people, and this is not the commission received from the Lord Jesus. Those coming to churches today are sent back because of rules, contributions, lack of love, and lack of methods to retain them. The Christians need to wake up to our responsibilities we need to fill every place with the teaching from the words of God, it is not until we do politics but only with the teaching of God's words we will rule the world.

2. DO NOT GO TO EGYPT
Going to Egypt for the Christians meant going back to the world, and Jeremiah warned the remnants of the Jews to remain in their cities and that God would be merciful to them. The people refused the voice of the Lord even though they had asked the prophet to pray for them and promised to do all that the Lord would tell them. Many Christians today because of problems, want to go back to the world; some secretly visit herbalists and look for ways to solve their problems, but God through Jeremiah warns us like he warned the people of Israel not to go to Egypt. They were informed about the consequences of going to Egypt but the people shunned the words of God saying it was a voice of man. Many people visit pastors or prophets to tell them their own mind, but God is not a man; the true ministers will tell them the mind of God; as the people wanted the prophet to give them instructions to go to Egypt but when God spoke they were angry. It's surprising how some will come to the minister expecting him to deceive them; some will twist the words said to them even in the presence of the pastor, all because they already know how they thought it should be. Though some ministers will follow them and leave them to their will, the end will be bad and they will be blaming God saying there is no more power of God in the church. Changing the instructions of God to suit our purposes is dangerous; we need to adhere to the will of God whether sweet or bitter. We don't need to rebel against God, God told them that the famine, death, and swords that they were afraid would meet them in Egypt through the same Nebuchadnezzar who they were running away from; that's why we should not allow fear to send us back to the world because there is no refuge anywhere except in the Lord; the name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and they are saved.

3. THE LAW WAS NOT MADE FOR THE RIGHTEOUS
This may sound like an ambiguous statement that the law was not made for the righteous but for the lawless people. This is because the righteous is living above sin and reproach; he doesn't need to be taught to do good before doing it, because the fear of God is in him; also the love of God and the love of others which are the summary of all laws are in him. However, the law is made to judge the wicked people, for the law is the power of sin; the murderers, disobedient, ungodly, sinners, fornicators, kidnappers, and many more are to be judged by the law. We have been cleansed and saved by the mercy of God from all sinful acts. Paul said this testimony is acceptable that we are the sinners who are saved, the righteousness of Jesus is imputed to us, and we are not under the law but justified by the grace of God. Glory be to God; let's continue in Him and pray that we will not go back to the world till the coming of the Lord Jesus, that He will meet us in Him and make us rapture-ready by the grace of Jesus Christ. And when we shall appear at His throne we will not be judged but receive the reward of our faithfulness; I pray we will not miss it in Jesus' name.

1. IMPORTATION OF STRANGE ALTAR
Everything has a peculiarity that distinguishes it from other things; likewise, every religion has peculiar altars where worshippers meet with the person they believe. But many do not know the peculiarity of the altar of God and they import another altar to replace the existing one in the name of civilisation. King Ahaz saw the altar in the strange nation which he coveted and described it to the Priest on paper and the Priest made the altar before the arrival of the king. I noticed that each denomination has a peculiarity in how they make their altar in such a way that it is different from one another. Still, the problem is, that some people want to copy other denominations' altars. The modes of worship, songs, and music are different, but instead of being themselves, they want to import other cultures into their service. It goes to the extent that some want to speak like another person and imitate what some other people are doing in their own churches. The importation of the altar done by Ahaz was bad because he deceitfully brought idolatry to obstruct the laid-down principle of the Jewish Religion. We need to be very careful because there is no other foundation to be laid than that which has been laid only for all to know what we are building on. After all, our works shall be tested with fire and anyone whose work gets burnt will be saved; it will be like passing through fire. We will recall that all materials on the altar of Israel were revealed by God to Moses but the imported ones were from men and they were there to provoke God. Let's keep the altar of God without delusion; may the Lord help us in Jesus' name.

2. BEWARE OF TRUSTED COLLEAGUES
One of my mentors in my secular work warned me to be careful of my trusted colleagues. He said those higher than you may fight you but only to make you great; the ones below you may fight you only to eat from you; but your colleagues will work on how to demoralise you and prove your unworthiness because they know that you are both eager to be promoted to the available position which may be ten people looking forward for the same post. This man may be right or wrong but many people do not know from where their fall came, and all will be so clever like Ishmael the son of Nethaniah. Unfortunately, privileged information had been given to Gedaliah that Ishmael had been assigned to kill him, but he trusted Ishmael that he could not do that; eventually he killed him cleverly, and for two days nobody knew that he had killed the king, and he also pretended as if he was not the one and he also killed those that would have raised alarm. He ate with the men of both entourages, but he killed all those who belonged to Ahaz. We need to be careful with trusted colleagues especially when we are favoured and rise higher than them; some may be working for our downfall. This also concerns the church ministers among their colleagues; David lamented that if it had been the enemies who did that to him, it would not have been painful but those who enter together into the house of God, those that we pray together, sing together, and among my people find the wicked people. Judas was one of the prominent members of the disciples of Jesus Christ. Be careful; if not for Jesus, who is all-knowing nobody would have known the one who betrayed Jesus; he planned it cleverly. Such are the evil people; they will do it and none will suspect them. May the Lord save us from the hand of the wicked people in Jesus' name.

3. WE ARE SAVED BY MERCY
If it had not been the mercies of God that saved us, we would have been worse than those people outside there, but wickedness was taken away from us. Paul reminded us of where we were coming from and said that since we have been saved we need to submit ourselves to God, and others such as the boss, and all that rule over us. We are saved by the mercies of God; there are people better than us, more zealous than we are and disciplined themselves yet they have no assurance of their salvation, and you that is saved, it's not by your work but by the mercy of God. If not Jesus, who made Himself a sacrificial Lamb to humble Himself where could we have been, what position could we have been? What have we that we have not received, what are we bragging about? Let us follow the pattern of Jesus Christ and serve in humility as He humbled Himself till death. Please pray for the spirit of humility so that we will not count ourselves as someone greater than other people no matter the position we find ourselves in. It shall be well with us in Jesus' name; let us, therefore, be merciful that we may be the children of God throughout our lives.

1. FOUNDATION MATTERS
We must be careful when laying the foundation of anything, because whatever we do can have an effect, good or bad. A foundation is known to be the beginning of everything, and if it's bad factually nothing can be done. Studying the attitude of the Israelites' kings after the secession of the Northern Kingdom from Judah, we can see that it was worrisome and many kings followed the sins of Jeroboam. We can see the continuous rebellion that cut short many kings' lives and unsettled rivalries in the kingdom. Can we say the law of nemesis worked against them? Though God brought the separation because of the sins of the house of David, does it mean that God did that to punish the Northern kingdom since Judah fell and yet traced back their ways to God oftentimes, but the other kingdom was far from repentance? But this problem traces back to the breaking part: Jeroboam separated the ten tribes not only from Judah but from the living God of Israel, and he introduced the people to another god; from then on, the kingdom wallowed in sin and rebellion against God. This should be a great lesson to all especially those who like to break away from the church or ministry; introducing rebellious attitudes might not help, if God asks you to move out from the former church or ministry, it should be you alone and your family not in such a way as to pack the members along with you. The person who wants to separate business should not go away with the customers of the place he is leaving. A pastor shouldn't plant rebels against his successor or predecessor. I can see that many people are suffering from the rebellious attitude they have adopted. Judah retained their kings, especially King Uzziah, who sinned against God by hijacking the work of the priest, whom God struck with leprosy, yet the kingdom still allowed his son to act in his stead until his death, but the Israelites' kingdom killed their kings anyhow by rebellion. Rebellion proliferates death in the church till today; some will even go to the extent of being diabolical. Let us run away from the sin of rebellion.

2. FREEDOM OF GOD'S PEOPLE
God protects His people from any danger and He gives freedom to them from the hand of the wicked ones. Jeremiah was exonerated from bo***ge and given the freedom to choose where he would live. This is how God separates His people from slavery, danger, loss, and punishment, especially those who do not compromise. David said that though the world's foundation is shaking, there is a river, and this will make the people of God happy. He separated Elijah from famine and the Shunamite woman was told to escape the famine. He will surely deliver His people from any evil only if they keep on trusting Him.

3. ELDERS IN THE CHURCH
Apostle Paul instructed Titus to choose some people to be elders in the church with qualifications including freedom from reproach, husband of one wife, having children that believe, not covetous nor stubborn. However, the church is not looking for these qualifications before choosing people for the office of the elder today. For this, many of those chosen are not performing their duties given to them in the church, according to this passage. Paul says the elder should be an ambassador of Christ, not easily provoked, not a drunkard nor a be**er, but hospitable, saintly, upholding the truth, and counsellor of biblical doctrines. He also directed all the elderly men and women to have a good character worthy of emulation to the younger ones, especially the young women, to love their husbands. Many of these virtues have been lost in the church today, and it's because the ministers, including elders, deacons, deaconesses, and choristers, have strayed from the track. God called us to be holy, not only the pastors but all who bear the vessel of the Lord. Let all elders check themselves because they will give account when Christ shall come. I pray the office we hold will not be the gateway to hell for us, in Jesus' name. How can we explain the fight on the altar, the immorality within the church, or the people who use their posts to cheat, to curse, to commit adultery, which causes bad odours on the altar and the choir stalls? Let us change from evil deeds so that we may not lose heaven and that our labour and services will not be in vain.
