We’re delivering a BFI Film Academy Introductory Course as part of the BFI Film Academy North West Hub🙌🏽

We’re looking for 13 young filmmakers and film fans aged 16-19 to take part in the course in 2026/27. 

It’s a free, UK-wide training programme for young people who want to get started in the film and TV industry.

Over 4 months, you’ll collaborate with your fellow young filmmakers to make a short film from start to finish. 

Guided by a team of industry professionals, you’ll learn everything from development, production and post-production through an exciting range of practical and theoretical sessions.

You’ll gain hands-on experience shooting on location using industry level equipment, developing practical filmmaking skills including camera work, sound recording, producing, editing and much more.

We just had to share these brilliant sock puppets made by Q***r Craft Club 🧦
We had an absolute blast using donated craft materials to create our characters.

One of the great things about craft is that you only need a few bits and pieces, some friendly folks and a big old dollop of imagination to have a lovely relaxing (and very silly) evening.
It’s all about the process.💕

Have you ever wanted to run creative projects and events but aren’t quite sure how to get things going? 🖌️

Running from September to March 2027, Producers Make Stuff Happen will give five participants the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops, one-to-one mentoring sessions, careers advice and practical project work designed to build their skills and confidence as producers.

You’ll hear from facilitators and guest experts with experience across different areas of producing, including audience development, marketing and social media, ticketing, event planning, health and safety and budgeting.

Each participant will receive a training bursary to support their time on the programme, alongside access to hot-desking space at Aunty Social for meetings, working and developing their project.

Catherine’s journey into the creative arts and freelancing is one for the books. Now, she wants to pass the baton to the next generation of producers, sharing the knowledge and skills she’s picked up along the way and helping them create something incredible for Blackpool. 🗼

Have you ever wanted to take artworks out of their display cases and take a closer look? Well now’s your chance to get 'hands-on' with objects from the Crafts Council's collection at this special session.

We're very pleased to have a variety of fascinating craft objects on loan from Crafts Council UK This is your opportunity to have a close-up look at the different pieces, explore them from every angle and see how they're made.

This is a very relaxed activity with no formal lectures or talks. You can take your time looking at the objects on your own or as part of the wider group.
So head on down to Aunty Social and get curious about craft.
