💙🏃‍♀️ RUNNING FOR A CURE 💚

On 31st May, one of our foster carers Laura will be taking on the Great Manchester Run 10K to raise money for NF2 BioSolutions UK & Europe.

We are fundraising in support of one of our foster children, who is living with NF2 — a rare condition that causes tumours to grow on the brain, spine and nerves. There is currently no cure, so we’re raising funds to support vital research and help make a difference for those affected.

If you’re able to, we would be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Your support will help fund research and bring hope to families affected by NF2. ❤️

We’re also supporting a fundraising walk being organised by Thrive. Please see the leaflet for more details and we’d love for you to join us if you can!

Foster with Thrive 🧡🌱

25/04/2026

What is compassion fatigue?

That’s the topic we tackled today at Thrive’s foster carer forum. Foster carers give so much of themselves and recognising this is important.

Lead by clinical psychologists, the day was full of learning, reflection and even self-care packs to take home! 💆🏽‍♂️

Thrive is building something special and its moments like today that made us sit back and appreciate it.

Thank you to our amazing carers for sharing their struggles and our dedicated team for supporting them.

Fewer foster carers. More children in care.

Between 2021 and 2024, the number of mainstream fostering households dropped from 45,370 to 42,615 and the number of approved foster carers has fallen by 4% since 2022.

At the same time, the number of children needing safe, loving homes continues to rise.

Every new foster carer can make a life changing difference. Could that be you? 🧡

Back again busting some of your fostering myths 🕵️‍♀️
Children enter foster care for many different reasons and not all have experienced severe trauma.

Some come into care because:✨ Their parents are temporarily unable to provide safe care (due to illness, housing issues or financial hardship).✨ They need stability while families work toward reunification.✨ They don’t have a safe place to stay while relatives are being located.

While every child’s story is unique, what every child in foster care needs is safety, stability, and love 🧡
You don’t need to be a therapist to make a difference, you just need an open heart and a willingness to show up. 💕
