What a powerful video from Steve Bracknall! Please watch and share!

Football is more than just a game. It has the power to bring people together, create a sense of belonging and can be a lifeline for those facing challenges that others may never see.

The statistic shared in this video should not exist: every day in the UK, we lose the equivalent of an entire men's Sunday league football squad to su***de.

It's a powerful reminder of why community matters, why conversations matter and why creating spaces where people feel connected and supported is so important.

Volunteers make such a difference in our communities every day and this week we’re celebrating the people who give their time, skills and passion to help others.

If you’re looking for a new way to make an impact, why not become a Cancer Champion?

As a Cancer Champion, you’ll help raise awareness, start important conversations and connect people with information and support that could make a real difference to their lives. You don’t need any previous experience – just a willingness to get involved and help your community.

With free training and ongoing support, you’ll join a growing network of people across Lancashire and South Cumbria who are helping to ensure more people know the signs, symptoms and support available.

This Volunteers’ Week, take the first step towards making a difference. 💜

As we look ahead to our Awards on the 13th June, we're proud to share a reflection from one of our judges, Neil Greaves, Director of Communications and Engagement at Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board.

Neil joined our judging panel to help recognise the outstanding contribution of voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations across Lancashire and South Cumbria. His words capture exactly why these awards matter, celebrating the organisations, projects and people who are making a real difference in the lives of local communities every day.

We're looking forward to coming together to celebrate our finalists, recognise their achievements and shine a spotlight on the incredible impact being made across our sector.

Television has the power to spark conversations, raise awareness and help people feel less alone. That's why we're pleased to see BBC EastEnders tackling the realities of a cancer diagnosis through Denise Fox's storyline.

While a diagnosis can bring difficult emotions and unanswered questions, it is also the beginning of a journey where support, treatment and care are available. By bringing these experiences into millions of homes, storylines like this can encourage people to seek help, talk openly about cancer and recognise the importance of early diagnosis.

At Spring North, we're proud to work with the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance, funding community organisations to raise awareness of cancer, encourage screening and highlight the importance of early diagnosis.

No one should face cancer alone. Through greater awareness, earlier diagnosis and access to the right support, we can help improve outcomes and ensure more people get the care they need when they need it most.

It's Volunteers' Week!

This week, we're celebrating all the amazing volunteers who give their time to support people and communities across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

From supporting people affected by cancer to improving health and wellbeing, running community groups, sharing lived experience, offering a listening ear, and so much more, volunteers make a huge difference every day.

We know that many of the things we achieve simply wouldn't be possible without the dedication, kindness and commitment of volunteers.

To everyone who volunteers through Spring North, our member organisations' volunteers and our programme volunteers ... thank you. We really do appreciate everything you do!

The countdown is on!

The Spring North Awards are happening on the 13th June and we can’t wait to celebrate with all of our incredible finalists.

One of our finalists this year is Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, nominated in our Innovation category for their inspiring DADS FC project.

Blackburn Rovers Dads FC is a support group for bereaved fathers through baby or child loss, providing a safe space for dads to share their experiences, support one another and focus on improving both mental and physical wellbeing.

As the first programme of its kind linked to a professional football club, Blackburn Rovers Dads FC uses football sessions to bring dads together, helping them rebuild confidence, create friendships and feel supported in a safe and understanding environment

Our creative team recently caught up with the team to hear how excited they are ahead of the awards night and it was incredible to learn more about the project’s impact on the community.

We can’t wait to celebrate all our finalists and shine a spotlight on the organisations making a real difference across Lancashire & South Cumbria.
