Feeling dramatic? We're holding Open Auditions for this year's Ebor Players Spring Show, "Look Out... He's Got a Gun!" by Phil Mansell, will be next Thursday 5 March at 7:30pm in Bishopthorpe Village Hall.

In this comedy crime caper a wave of terror is striking the heart of London’s West End in the 1950's. Young women are mysteriously vanishing from the exclusive Purple Cockatoo nightclub, leaving Scotland Yard utterly baffled. Enter the dashing best-selling crime novelist Steve Dexter and his sophisticated wife, Eve - intrepid amateur sleuths who never back down from a mystery. This two-act comedy is a fast-paced, hilarious spoof of classic noir and detective thrillers and we'd love for you to be involved.

Auditions are open to over 18's. Show week is Wednesday 6 to Saturday 9 May 2026 with rehearsals on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Now that the dust has settled in panto land, we've got a few thank yous to make!

First and foremost, a huge thank you to The Marcia Inn, who do a brilliant job of looking after us after each show, feeding us between Saturday's shows, and let us celebrate until the early hours after the final show has finished! We love you, Team Marcia.

Secondly, thank you to everyone who has supported us by helping us out with everything from props to marketing to raffle prizes. The endless list includes: Martin & Co, Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, , , , , , Bishopthorpe Deli, Listers Newsagents and York Races.

Our third thank you is to everyone who helped out front of house, backstage and manning the bar during show week - we couldn't do it without you!

We can't do a list of thank yous without also mentioning our amazing director and producer, Philippa, and Chair, Lisa, who work tireless between them to make the show a success each year. Everything you see on stage has been dreamt up by one of them: together they make the cast sparkle (physically and metaphorically!)

and finally - thank you. Panto would be no fun without an audience, and you're the best audience we could wish for. We've heard fantastic feedback so far - do consider leaving us a review on Google or Facebook if you're able. Shall we do it all again next year?

Do you know what our favourite bit of Panto is? Seeing the joy it brings to Bishopthorpe! We loved this magic moment with Fairy Bowbells (but if you came on Monday you won’t have seen it.. so enjoy 😀)
