We are dedicated to supporting individuals living with, or at risk of, visual impairment across Hampshire.

Based in Eastleigh, Open Sight has provided uninterrupted support to the blind and partially sighted community of Hampshire since 1922. Our Mission: to support people with sight impairment, or who are at risk of sight loss, to achieve their personal goals, remain independent and live a full life. Open Sight provides a diverse range of services to assist sight impaired people to adapt and manage their lives. We work with you, your family, colleagues and friends in coping with both the practical and the emotional issues arising from your sight loss. The Team helps over 3000 sight impaired people across the whole of Hampshire – whether or not they are eligible for registration – with independent living advice, support and services.

This special event is run every year and bring together fantastic performances, community and Christmas spirit. Whether you're a long-time supporter of OpenSight or joining us for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you on Thursday the 10th of December for the evening to hear a festive performance from Joyful Sounds.

Doors open at 6:30pm, with performances beginning at 7:00pm.
£7.50 per person, under 18s go free (tickets available on the day for £10 per person).

Following a diagnosis of sight loss, people of working age may face unique challenges as they adapt to new ways of living and working. Navigating this transition can bring a mix of emotions, but with the right support, independence and confidence can thrive.

Our groups create a space for connection, idea sharing, and new opportunities. Whether you're in your 20s or 60s, you'll find a welcoming community ready to support and inspire each other.

From sharing tech tips to planning activities and exploring local events and services, our groups are all about enabling individuals to live life on their own terms.

Our TechSpert sessions provide practical, accessible support with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other technology - whether you're looking for help with accessibility settings, useful apps or simply want to feel more confident using your device.

Join us at OpenSight’s Aldershot Insights Course on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st October 10:30am – 3:30pm at The Vine Centre, GU11 1BA.

Join OpenSight and your local Sensory Service Team for a two-day workshop designed to bring people together for in-person networking, shared lived experience, and gaining practical insights into living with sight loss.

The workshop will be delivered by experienced professionals, many of whom have lived experience of sight loss, from a range of organisations that provide services and support across your area.

Insights is open to any adult living with sight loss who is newly diagnosed or who may be finding it difficult to adjust. Attendees are welcome to bring a family member, friend, or companion for additional support while they explore the information and opportunities available.

We are excited to bring the sight loss community together and look forward to welcoming you.

Our Portsmouth satellite gives people living with sight loss in the area more accessible support, closer to home.

Join us on Monday 5th of October and find the OpenSight team at the Disability Hub in Cascade Shopping Centre, with our satellite running once a month, 9am-4pm.

There’s also Tech Club taking place from 1:30pm-3pm.
Our TechSpert sessions provide practical, accessible support with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other technology – whether you’re looking for help with accessibility settings, useful apps or simply want to feel more confident using your device.

The new Portsmouth satellite is part of our wider Community Connections approach, which is bringing OpenSight support into communities across Hampshire through local bases, satellite venues, partnerships, social group and drop-in sessions.
