A number of calls have been responded to over the past 2 weeks all Unresponsive and calls to cardiac Arrests.

Just alone today we have so far been to 2 calls. This evening we were called to a patient in arrest and with fast intervention we administered a number of doses of Naloxone which is a medication given to reverse overdoses due to the patient's presentation on arrival.
Within just 30 seconds of the first dose a reaction was noted that the Naloxone had some impact and further doses given whilst we also assisted on a blue light run to resus.

As we are a Charity we have to fund and replace all equipment including Defib pads, medications and Bag Valve Masks (including airway equipment). So without your generous help this would never be possible. Thank you for your support, you really are helping to save lives.

❤️ 5 cardiac arrest deployments. 3 positive outcomes. One week.

This week alone, our Bishopstoke Community Fund responders have been deployed to five Category 1 cardiac arrest calls in the surrounding area.

Of those five incidents, three patients survived and this mornings patient ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation) was achieved following the rapid interventions provided by our BCF responders and other emergency services.

Last night, and into the early hours of this morning, our responders were once again dispatched to a patient in cardiac arrest.

We arrived on scene within just 3 minutes.

Because CPR had already been started and our responders were able to begin immediate advanced interventions, the patient's heart was successfully restarted. Our team also provided specialist airway management while working alongside the wider emergency response.

Achieving ROSC is an incredible moment.

For responders, it is difficult to put into words what it feels like to see someone's heart start beating again — particularly while their family is watching and hoping for the best possible outcome for their loved one.

It is a reminder of exactly why rapid response matters, why every second counts, and why the Bishopstoke Community Fund exists.

But being able to respond like this comes at a cost.

Every time our defibrillator is deployed and used, the charity faces approximately £65 in replacement costs for essential defibrillator pads alone.

Then there are the advanced medical kits, medications, airway equipment, response bags, community defibrillators, training and all the other equipment required to ensure our responders are ready to go when that 999 call comes through.

Without Bishopstoke Community Fund, this local fast response simply would not be possible. This is not a SCAS CFR response team, it's your local responders from BCF.

At Bishopstoke Community Fund (Charity No. 1199556), our volunteers provide community defibrillators and respond to 999 calls for suspected cardiac arrests, bringing advanced medical capabilities rapidly to seriously unwell patients in and beyond our community.

On Monday, we were dispatched to a further cardiac arrest and arrived on scene within just 3 minutes. Sadly, despite the efforts of everyone involved, the patient did not survive.

During the incident we became aware that two cats had been left without an owner and urgently needed somewhere safe to go. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to St Francis Animal Welfare charity, who have kindly offered accommodation for both cats tomorrow (Sunday), ensuring they will be safe and cared for.

While our primary role is helping save lives through rapid cardiac arrest response and access to community defibrillators, situations like this show the strength of our local community and the importance of charities working together when help is needed.

These incidents demonstrate why having trained responders in our community with advanced medical skills and equipment available that can make such an important difference. Our advanced medical kits and response equipment are fully funded through donations to Bishopstoke Community Fund including some medications.

Without the generosity of our community, this level of care simply would not be possible.

We rely on donations — including regular monthly donations — to maintain our equipment, provide advanced medical kits, support our community defibrillators and continue responding when our community needs us most and to teach community CPR and Defibrillator Awareness courses.

Recent deployments have included:
❤️ Cardiac arrest – male: ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation) achieved following our rapid response and intervention on scene in 7 Minutes. Assisted by SCAS and HEMS

🚑 Unresponsive female – neurological emergency: Providing rapid assessment and advanced care assisting police while awaiting the arrival of SCAS on scene in 5 Minutes.

🚑 Traumatic cardiac arrest – female: Following a fall from height, our responders provided immediate advanced care at the scene assisting SCAS, HEMS and BASICS on scene in 3 minutes.

⚕️ Unresponsive female – post-fitting: Rapid assessment and care following a seizure handover to SCAS on scene in 2 minutes.

❤️ Cardiac arrest – male: Our responders were again dispatched to provide immediate lifesaving intervention on scene and with patient in just 3 Minutes.

🚑 DEFIBRILLATOR SPOTLIGHT – Bishopstoke Community Centre ❤️

Did you know there's a 24/7 public access defibrillator located at Bishopstoke Community Hall, Sydney Road (opposite St Mary's Church), Bishopstoke, SO50 6DJ?

Installed on 7th December 2022, this lifesaving cabinet contains:
✅ Defibrillator (AED)
🩸 Bleed Control Kit
😷 Pocket Mask

This vital community asset was made possible thanks to a grant from Bishopstoke Parish Council with additional fundraising for maintenance of new Pads and Battery, and has already been deployed once in 2025, demonstrating just how important accessible defibrillators are in our community.

Our team regularly checks and maintains every cabinet to ensure it's ready if it's ever needed.

Wow! what a day at Bishopstoke Carnival 2026!!

A heartfelt thank you for having us, and you deserve a pat on the back for the incredible planning and organising team behind the event. Without every persons input involved, this incredible tradition would never be able to continue.

Logistics, Road Marshalls, River team, Parade, Fete, Participants and of course the public for their support makes Bishopstoke the great village to be part of.

It might have been a bit warm but gosh didn't the day go down a treat. Sad thing is now the wait till next years...

We were glad to provide support and medical cover for such a great event. now for a Sunday off to recover! 🥰😍

The amazing Bishopstoke Carnival is on this weekend, Saturday 27th.
We will be supporting the event again this year with any Medical needs as well as talking about how the charity makes a difference to everyone in and around our area. The weather is looking just fine, cooler than today, about 28C and shaded Reas are available.
The team are hard at work behind the scenes ensuring it will be a great day for all.
We look forward to seeing you there.

We had good fun supporting the Common Have A Go Event in Colden Common yesterday with Event First Aid cover and Enhanced Care. Always great to see the Community out enjoying themselves, and Manakin Eric and his half friends even came out to support a bit of hands on CPR Bleed Control and Defibrillation awareness.
