'We're just after your laughter' has been our motto from day 1.Through play, music, dance and art we aim to reach out and support children and families in crisis. Over the past 13 years we have shared positive experiences with almost 300 000 children worldwide facing some of the harshest situations possible. We have supported through play children in refugee camps, orphanages, hospital wards, scho

ols, and community shelters in 23 countries. Our belief is a simple one; beyond politics, economics or religion children have the right to a happy, safe and play filled childhood. No matter who you are, where you're from we are determined to make sure as many children as possible get precisely that.

This Volunteer Week we are celebrating the incredible individuals who make our projects happen. They undertake an intensive training course and commit entirely to the physical work of delivering our shows across the globe.🌎

Since 2008, our teams of smile specialists have left a trail of laughter and silliness. We rely entirely on the generosity and energy of our volunteers who paint our vans, stitch our bunting, and bring immense talent to our performances.

Their hard work means we can reach people seeking refuge who are facing immense hardship. We ensure every day starts with a playtime that everyone can enjoy. Play lifts them up when the world weighs them down.

We are incredibly grateful for every single person who has packed a bag and travelled with us to share joy where it is needed most.

Are you feeling inspired to bring the noise? Send us a message to learn how to join our next team.

Our Super Sensory Balkan Bonanza tour has just landed in both Greece and Serbia. 🎪

For the first time ever we have two Sensory Circus teams delivering play and laughter at the exact same time. Over the next month our trained entertainers are bringing interactive sensory shows, sensory freeplay workshops and home visits to children and adults with disabilities.

Across Greece and Serbia individuals living with complex disabilities often face systemic discrimination and isolation. Many live in underfunded government institutions where they are rarely moved from their beds. We use flexible sensory activities to replace this isolation with energetic play tailored to their specific needs.

Every person deserves the right to feel special and participate in joyful moments.

Follow our journey over the next month to see the impact of inclusive play. 💛

How do you entertain 350 children at the exact same time?

It takes serious volume and focus. Our team is currently in the south of Moldova sharing interactive shows and games with local families and children seeking refuge from the war in Ukraine.

Before we step out, we do a rigorous vocal and physical warm up routine. The noise you hear behind the camera is the sound of our performers building the massive energy required to hold the attention of hundreds of kids.

Childhoods lost to conflict and isolation often force young people into premature adulthood. We use loud, boisterous clowning to replace that heavy silence with vibrant and chaotic joy.

A handful of dried pasta and a fuzzy tube can completely transform a day for a child.

Our team is currently in Romania to bring play to children living in challenging circumstances. Did you know, alongside the circus and magic shows we run interactive puppet workshops?

Phil shares how the children build their own characters piece by piece. The real magic happens when they bring their creations to life during a vibrant puppet disco.

Play is not just a momentary distraction. Making these puppets sparks their imagination right there in the room and gives them a tool for play when they take their creations home.

We are extremely serious about being silly.

Today is World Play Day. While it might sound light-hearted, the reality of our work at The Flying Seagull Project is urgent. Millions of children seeking refuge are losing their childhoods to the daily struggles of premature adulthood.

Our trained entertainers step into deeply challenging situations across the globe. Through focused magic shows and boisterous clowning, we build a secure environment where children can drop their heavy burdens and just be children.

Nothing short of brilliant is enough when you are fighting to give a child a moment of joyous relief from trauma. Play lifts them up when the world weighs them down.

The 100 Days of Happiness tour lands in Moldova for its second stage.

Over the next four weeks, our team will visit residential centres and local communities to connect with children seeking refuge from the war in Ukraine.

Through interactive shows, music, and circus workshops, our trained entertainers create safe environments free from fear. We use structured silliness and respect to help these young people feel valuable again.

By bringing our workshops directly into these temporary living spaces, we offer an immediate sense of relief. Deep preparation allows our performers to be fully present, ensuring every child feels seen, respected, and part of the magic.

Follow our journey over the next month to see how we bring happiness to the children who need it most.

Sometimes the most therapeutic thing a child can do is make a massive racket.

Childhoods lost to conflict and isolation often force young people into premature adulthood. We use music workshops to replace that heavy silence with vibrant and chaotic joy.

Ash explains that handing a child a set of bells or a samba whistle gives them permission to be loud. It sparks a fire and lets them roar their existence in environments that usually demand invisibility.

Providing the tools to create an energetic rhythm is not just about fun. It is about empowering children to take up space and feel valuable again.

A child who is usually overwhelmed by fear should not have to face their day alone.

During our recent Spring In Ya Step tour in Greece, staff at one of our partner units noticed something remarkable. Children who often cry or show fear during group activities stayed calm and joined in with our Seagull performers.

They did not just watch from the sidelines. They gradually integrated and became part of the fun. This response highlights the sense of safety and emotional comfort created by the project.

When we bring an energetic and creative atmosphere to these settings, we provide a space where children can stop being premature adults and simply be children again.

Laughter is the foundation of the safety we build.

Follow our journey to see more of the impact of play.

An act of hope is often about creating a safe environment where a young person feels supported enough to face their fears.

During a recent project in Romania, Ash met a teenager who was struggling heavily with his confidence.

He was hanging around our tightwire, wanting to try but too scared to start. The team gently encouraged him to take just one single step. He wobbled, tried again, and by the fourth day of free play, he was eagerly lining up to be the first person on the wire.

Play empowers young people to realise their own strength. Hope is having someone support you to try the very thing that scares you.

Today is the final day of the Million Acts of Hope campaign. Visit millionactsofhope.org to pledge your own act of hope before the week officially ends. ✨
