On Tuesday July 28th, the Bishop’s Castle Town Council agreed to adopt the updated Bishop’s Castle Community Food Resilience Strategy.
This groundbreaking document is the only Food Strategy in the County and shows the Council and Community's proactive view towards local food security and capacity building to withstand future shocks.
The Mayor, Josh Dickin, spoke about the challenges that we are confronting locally that stem from global food shocks, and acknowledged the struggles that people are having - unable to afford to shop at the Coop or Spar, and the worries of escalating risks.
A Community Conversation will be held in October to take the strategy to the next step: Creating an Action Plan and timeline for building resilience and local crisis response.
The Bishop’s Castle Community Food Strategy is a supporting branch of the Town Council's Climate Action Plan, developed by LightFoot’s Climate Action Group. The Food Strategy is a part of the , supported by .
