World Mental Health Day may be officially recognised on the 10th of October, but as an organisation we recognise mental health is 24/7, 365 days a year.

Mental health is as important to our wellbeing as physical health. And throughout our lives, personally and professionally we may need extra support and care for our minds. Some may need support for short periods or some may need longer term help to manage day to day. Whatever the need, Hiyed has many tools and people in place to support staff and customers alike.

This includes:
🧡 Having multiple trained Mental Health First Aiders
🧡 A variety of accessible staff socials and wellbeing events such as our Wellbeing Walks arranged by our very own Chris!
🧡 Support with coping strategies and regular, non-judgmental check ins
🧡 Links with other organisations that can help provide wraparound support

Things to remember:
💜 You are allowed and should look after your own mental wellbeing as well as others
💜 You are NOT alone. There are people who understand you and want to help you.
💜 You are allowed to ask for help and support (before a crisis as well!)

To top off this Friday, we’ve just had news that our very own Tracy Fee and Charlotte Graham have shortlisted for the North East Chamber of Commerce awards.

Tracy has been shortlisted for the Community and CSR Inspiring Woman of the Year: Social Enterprise Award 🏆

Charlotte has been shortlisted for the One to Watch Award 🏆

We are incredibly proud of them both as they work tirelessly to make Hiyed what it is (and continues to be), deserving every ounce of recognition.

This week our employability project lead Charlotte Graham attended the County Durham Pound Conference 2026. Stronger Together: Connected for Impact was a fantastic opportunity to meet with various professionals from different organisations all looking to work together to maximise social, economical and environmental value throughout County Durham. It was fantastic hearing about the amazing story of Carolyn who has achieved so much thanks to the support from Aspire Learning, Support and Wellbeing. We look forward to attending next years event and working more closely with County Durham Pound to support more businesses to learn more about inclusive recruitment practices and create more opportunities for neurodivergent individuals.

Our Employability Project Lead Charlotte Graham attended the first Murtek Connect event today at Planet Leisure, Newton Aycliffe Business Park today. It was the first event hosted by Murtek, bringing together local businesses to discuss tech barriers and AI use within business and also a great opportunity for networking. The children’s Foundation discussed their new project of expanding their baby boxes into the Tees Valley area and Missed a Beat explained the importance of local defibrillator maintenance. We look forward to attending the next event and working more closely with local business to explore partnerships and create more opportunities for neurodivergent individuals.
