For safety reasons and to protect the local community, we do not operate as a walking in service. Prior to clients arriving at the hub, we complete a full background assessment, including criminal convictions and housing history.
While staying with us, clients are required to sign agreements confirming that they will not engage in begging, cause disruption within the town, and that they will actively engage with our services. As the hub operates as a shared safe space, all clients and their belongings are searched by our badged security staff on entry we even have a mobile response unit alongside our guard if needed. Allowing access without these checks would pose an unacceptable risk and is not something we would consider.
The safety of our community is our highest priority. We operate 365 days as our moto states “you never know when you might need a helping hand”

With temperatures plummeting, our expert team are on hand and part of the County Durham SWEP, offering emergency accommodation to those in need 🏠

With hot showers, home cooked food and a comfy bed, our Safe Night Hub provides a safe space for those who need it most.

1 Year of The Angel Trust Safe Night Hub! 🎉

The Safe Night Hub (part of our Health and Wellbeing Hub) is celebrating its first anniversary. Over the past 12 months it has gone from strength to strength with support from partner organisations, and the wider community of Bishop Auckland. This has helped us provide a safe, supportive environment for people at the most difficult time in their lives.

We support people discharged from hospital who would otherwise be homeless, and those referred to us by housing teams through a designated referral pathway, with some fleeing domestic abuse and some in need of mental health support.

The Hub also provides people with clothes, home cooked meals, washing facilities and hot showers along with support to access longer term housing. Support also remains in place after a client has left us.

We have shared so many of the success stories over the last year with you but now the statistics speak for themselves.

At our Homeless Night Hub, every life matters. ❤️
A lot of of clients come through our doors showing signs of suicidal thoughts or after a su***de attempt, they receive support from a trained su***de counsellor within 24 hours.
We provide one-to-one care, compassion, and a personalised safety plan to help keep them safe and supported during their most vulnerable moments.
No one should face crisis alone — and at our Hub, they never have to. 🫶
