💫 What an amazing weekend it’s been for the Creative Placements Team!

🌈 The team installed their Equinix Lights archways at One Big Summer – part of the Radio 1 Big Weekend celebrations at Keel Square in Sunderland.

📸☀️ Awesome photo shoots were taken under the radiant Sun arch
🌙🪩 People partied under the Moon arch’s glitter ball
🌳💗 And the Tree arch made the perfect optical sensory piece for families

💪🏻 The installations were enjoyed by thousands of festival-goers over the weekend and the team absolutely smashed it!

🙏 Thank you to Sunderland City Council for giving us the opportunity to showcase our work.

🚀 After months of creating these spectacular arches from upcycled scrap materials, the Creative Placements Team is now upgrading each installation in preparation for future events.

🔩 Dean is adding strong T-nuts to the sun arch to firmly secure the tetrahedron light fixtures.

💦 Tom is applying silicone sealing to the edges of the tetrahedrons to make them waterproof and more durable.

🪾 The team is also adding braces to the inside of the tree arch to reinforce the projecting leaves and branches.

🎸✨ The three arches will be exhibited at Radio One’s Big Weekend in a couple of weeks, where they will be installed for an extended period, so they’ll need to stand the test of time!

🚀 MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! MADEby’s Creative Placements have crafted the last installation for Project Equinox: Illuminating Futures.

“It has been a great project to be part of a team that started by looking at different lighting effects and did various experiments. The guys then delivered their first community workshops to help with the final design of the installation. “ - Luke, Creative Lead Support Mentor.

🪩 The moon was side lit using addressable LEDs, that the team are enjoying using, causing the etchings to glow. The latest arch also included a disco ball as well as tactile reflective colour shifting panels on the inside.

🌈 In the inside of the moon’s crescent arches clear acrylic sheets are used and covered with crumpled dichroic film to give a textured effect and feel.

♻️ The wooden frame of the installation is made using recycled materials. The clear acrylic on the front of the moons that were etched were also recycled from off cuts that was provided by Creative Graphics.

🙌 We bring you… Part II of *Project Equinox: Illuminating Futures*!

✨ Introducing our stunning tree arch installation – a true centrepiece inspired by the beauty of spring 🌿

🌈🍃 Carefully crafted to curve around the arch, each leaf is made from coloured film, creating mesmerising opalescent light effects. By playing with reflection and diffusion, the installation comes alive with vibrant, ever-changing visuals.

🌟 This was a fun, creative project by the entire Creative Placements Team. Now, we look forward to lighting it up in future events as we will have something else in store at our next Street Food Fridays: Moonlight Market on the 24th April 🌔

👏 Well done to everyone who got involved, including the Inspiring Lives and thank you to the Arts Council, who have funded this project to make it possible.

⏳ The countdown to showtime is on for our next Spring event installation!

💫 The Creative Placements Team have been hard at work on Part II of Project Equinox: Illuminating Futures, an Arts Council-funded community project that has already been an incredible journey.

🌈🍃 This latest display takes the form of a spring-inspired nature arch, complete with trees, leaves, and some truly magical lighting effects.

👨‍🎨 The dedication behind every detail is clear, with each piece carefully crafted - including Dean, who has been meticulously spray-painting components to bring the vision to life.

⭐🎪 The finished installation will take centre stage tomorrow at Baccanalia’s Street Food Carousel in Stanley.

🌟 And voilà! Our showstopper made its big reveal last Friday at Bishop Auckland Marketplace for our very first Street Food Fridays!

💖📸 What a spectacle it was… drawing in people of all ages and becoming a picture-perfect spot for families, couples, and friends to capture a special moment.

🌈☀️ The Equinox Light installation, designed as a giant sun arch, featured dynamic multi-lighting effects and was sustainably built using reclaimed materials saved from scrap.

🎨 The display showcased intricate artwork created by Bishop Auckland College’s Aspire group during a S.T.E.A.M workshop. Their designs were scanned and printed by Cre8ive Graphics onto specialist boards, then carefully cut and assembled into the striking tetrahedrons forming the arch.

🤝🏻 A true collaborative effort, the project brought together community creativity, teamwork, and the science of light and colour. Huge well done to our Creative Placements Team!

🔆💪 We're all hands on deck with our Arts Council-funded Equinox Futures project, creating three show-stopping installations, the first of which you can catch at our Street Food Fridays event in Bishop Auckland Market Place tomorrow night!

👷🏻‍♂️👷🏻‍♀️⚙️ The guys are already working on part two of the project, shaping a giant tree out of foam board using electric jigsaws, learning new fabrication skills.

🤩 This next piece will be part of Stanley's Street Food Carousel on the 10th April - keep an eye out for details coming soon!

🚀☀️ ONE week to go until Equinox Lights at our new Street Food Fridays event in Bishop Auckland Market Place!

💫 Our Creative Placements Team have been busy. Soldering. Wiring. Assembling. Building things they'd never built before - and absolutely smashing it in the MADEby Workshop.

🔮 The result? Glowing tetrahedrons that will make up a huge illuminated, interactive sunbeam, set to stop people in their tracks at this month's Street Food Fridays next Friday, 27th March.
