We are Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Heartlands Hospital Charity, Good Hope Hospital Charity, and Solihull Hospital Charity

Our purpose is to look after patients, their families, and staff across our hospitals by providing the added extras that are over and above what the NHS can fund - from state-of-the-art equipment and ground-breaking research to tranquil and reflective garden s

paces, activities and toys to help patients’ and their family’s well-being. We help patients of all ages - from the tiniest premature babies, who need life-saving care so that they can thrive, to our older patients who need activities and programmes to help their physical and mental well-being while in hospital. To get involved, why not take a look at our varied and targeted appeals and choose where your money goes, see how you can take part in a sponsored challenge or put your spare time to good use and lend a helping hand at one of our fundraising events? Don’t forget to get in touch! We love hearing from our supporters, so remember to share your stories, events and photos on our Facebook and Instagram pages. If you have a query or concern, please don’t hesitate to contact the charity team by emailing [email protected] or by calling 0121 371 4852.

This weekend, member of the Board of Directors at University Hospitals Birmingham are taking on an abseil to support Heartlands Hospital Charity's Cancer Appeal.

Yve Buckland, Jacynth Ivey, Chichi Abraham Igwe and Gillian McGrattan will take on the challenge to scale Heartlands Hospital and fundraise for the hospital charity to fund state-of-the-art equipment, research and support for cancer patients from across Birmingham.

Heartlands Hospital Charity launched a new Cancer Appeal last year, which raised £150,000 to fund a new Haematology and Oncology Day Unit at the hospital, which opened earlier this year. The Appeal continues to help patients and their families while they undergo treatment.

“I can’t describe enough how special he was”

Ella Frampton’s father David Frampton served in the Armoured Cavalry and was treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for cancer.

During his treatment he was given free accommodation at Fisher House, our military home from home.

Ella says the treatment and care from both the Cancer Centre at the QE and Fisher House made what was a difficult time the best it could possibly be.

“He loved it here, it was a really special place for him.”

Sadly, David passed away. His family wanted to give back to the people who helped him and they raised over £3,000 at his funeral.

The Charity works with MuchLoved to set up memorial pages for families to raise funds in memory of a loved one.

Standing in the Children's Ward play area, built by the hospital charity at Heartlands, Laura explains why charity funding is so important for their little patients, and the impact it has on the families that come into the ward.

Each year thousands of children can feel scared when they come to hospital for treatment. This is made easier for them, their families, and the staff, with toys, games and fun activities that distract them and give them comfort. It isn't possible to put a price on the difference this makes. 🫶

✨ "She lit up the room with her smile wherever she went."

🧠This we want to highlight the impact brain tumours have on families and how the QE Brain Tumour Fund helps patients from vital research to creating special memories for families to cherish for years to come.

💙In 2019, at the age of 19, Evanne was given the devastating news that she had a brain tumour. Despite intense treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, the prognosis wasn't good, so the Charity stepped in to give her and her fiancé, Adam the best wedding possible.

🙌Thanks to our incredible supporters, we were able to create lasting memories for her husband and her family.

This , we celebrate the incredible courage of those living with and beyond cancer. Survivors are proof that hope is powerful—and that together, we can continue to make a difference. 💙

To help us keep supporting life-changing care and research we are about to launch a major appeal to raise vital funds for a new Total Body PET CT Scanner to transform how doctors at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham diagnose, treat and understand complex diseases — making care safer, faster and more accessible for those who need it most.

Who it will help:
🧒Children with cancer: fewer anaesthetics, lower radiation, better monitoring
🤰Pregnant women: safer diagnosis without waiting until after birth
🫀Heart disease patients: earlier detection, especially for high-risk groups
🧠Dementia patients: quicker, less stressful scans and better future treatments

What makes the Total Body Scanner different to current facilities:
⭐️More sensitive → clearer, higher-quality images
⭐️Faster → shorter, less daunting scans
⭐️Lower radiation → safer for all patients

By scanning the whole body at once, this technology will help us understand how diseases like cancer, heart disease, dementia and diabetes affect the body — and ultimately develop better treatments for the future.

Better insights. Brighter outcomes. 💙

📖 The story is about to begin... watch this space.

Dedicated supporters of the Charity, like Simon Jarvis, Executive Director of Good Hope Hospital, make a huge difference to what we are able to do to support patients, their families, and staff.

We are delighted to have so much support from NHS staff, who take the time outside of their already busy work schedules to fundraise and spread the word about Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull Hospital Charities.

We host fundraising events throughout the year, of all shapes and sizes, including abseils, skydives, and Snowdon hikes.

A year ago, an amazing group of volunteers finished a very special project, creating a very special garden at Solihull Hospital.

The Solihull Hospital Charity Memorial Garden offers peace and comfort to the thousands of patients, families and staff who come to the hospital every year.

A beautiful space to take a moment of reflection, sit and process news, remember loved ones, or recharge with a quiet moment, the garden has made a huge difference to many.

Without GM Building and Property Services Limited and supporters like them, this wouldn't be possible. 🫶
