Some of our members might find this research interesting as new treatments are coming close to be available soon and knowing a bit of information about the trials on the treatments

A new once-daily oral medication, called obefazimod, has shown encouraging results in people living with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis.

In a 44-week Phase 3 maintenance study involving around 580 patients, around 51% of people taking obefazimod were in clinical remission, compared with 10.4% taking a placebo.

Researchers also reported no new or unexpected safety signals, and updated safety data suggest cancer rates were similar to those already expected in people living with ulcerative colitis.

Obefazimod is still being studied and hasn't been approved yet, but these findings are another encouraging step towards a potential new oral treatment option for people living with ulcerative colitis.
