Literally Poetry in Motion

Elegant, graceful and rather beautiful… the sort of contestant you'd probably trust straight away.

But look closely and you'll notice the red ring around the outside of the flower. 👀

A subtle warning from a Traitor who isn't quite as innocent as they look?

Perhaps.

CONTESTANT 3: CROWNDALE

🕵️ THE DOUBLE

At first glance, Crowndale looks like a perfectly respectable member of the castle.

But look a little closer…

This is a double daffodil, with layers of petals giving it a much fuller appearance than your typical bloom.

And in the castle, doubles are always worth watching. 👀

Is Crowndale a loyal Faithful?

Or has it been quietly playing both sides?

The other contestants aren't sure.

🏰 VERDICT: Double flower. Double suspicion.

🤫 THE SHADY ONE

Small. Cheerful. Completely unassuming.

Tête-à-Tête doesn't look like much of a threat.

It keeps close to the ground, blends into the crowd and seems perfectly happy staying out of the spotlight.

But perhaps that's the plan…

While everyone else is busy arguing around the Round Table, Tête-à-Tête is quietly keeping its secrets. 👀

Is it a Faithful?

Or has it been hiding in plain sight all along?

THE FAITHFUL

Meet our first contestant in the Daffodil Castle…

Narcissus 'Petrel’ is quiet, elegant and completely unassuming.

With its delicate colouring and graceful flowers, it's the sort of daffodil that could easily blend into the background while everyone else is busy making accusations around the Round Table.

It doesn't demand attention.

It doesn't cause drama.

It simply sits there looking innocent… 👀

But that's exactly what makes us wonder:

Could ‘Petrel’ really be a Faithful?

Or is keeping a low profile the perfect strategy for a Traitor?

🏰 VERDICT: Faithful… for now.

But we'll be watching you, Petrel. 👀

A BIG WINNER IN 2026! 🌼

Some daffodils just seem to command attention — and ‘Sir Winston Churchill’ is certainly one of them!
This beautiful double daffodil has creamy-white petals, delicately marked with orange, and produces wonderfully fragrant flowers. It is classified as Division 4 – Double Daffodils and was registered in 1966.

And this year, it had a particularly successful season on the show bench especially in the Northern shows!

With its layers of white petals, touches of orange and beautiful fragrance, it’s easy to see why ‘Sir Winston Churchill’ continues to be grown and shown today.

🌸 Pink Charm 🌸

A real beauty in the garden!
‘Pink Charm’ is a Large-Cupped Daffodil (2 W-WWP), with elegant ivory-white petals and a beautiful coral-pink band around the cup.

Registered in 1977 by P. de Jager & Sons of the Netherlands, this mid-season variety is such a lovely combination of soft white and peachy-pink.

One for the pink lovers! 💕

From everyone at the UK Daffodil Society, we were very sorry to hear of the passing of Nancy Tackett in the USA.

Nancy was a Life Member of the NDS and had many friends within the daffodil community in New Zealand and beyond.

Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences go to Ben and all of Nancy’s family and friends at this very sad time.

And finally, our 10th 2026 UK Show Daffodil Star — Cape Cornwall! 🌼🏆

A 2Y-YYO Division 2 Large-Cupped, Cape Cornwall is a real show-stopper. Its bright yellow, broadly oval petals form a rounded flower around 10.6cm across, surrounding a rich red-orange goblet-shaped cup with a neatly toothed edge.

🏆 Part of the Best Exhibit in Show at Bournemouth in Bloom, in David Bassil's championship collection.

🏆 Part of the Best in Show championship collection at Parkstone, where Cape Cornwall featured alongside Ombersley, Sherborne and other top varieties.

🏆 It also featured in the D&V Parker Trophy-winning championship collection at Alnwick.

Our penultimate pick is Stratosphere — a daffodil with plenty of height, colour and character! 🌼🏆

A 7Y-O Division 7 Jonquilla, Stratosphere is a tall variety, reaching over 67.5cm, with 1–3 flowers per stem. The flowers open golden yellow, with the bowl-shaped corona developing into a strong yellow-orange. It's also scented, adding another reason to grow it.
