Our vision is to become a beacon and source of inspiration for the personal development of young people. The Pump (East Birmingham) Ltd.

Our organisation is a hub of youth work working closely with our partners to provide a holistic and integrated service to young people and provide opportunities that inspire and motivate young people to be the best they can. Our strategic plan sets out how we will resource, manage and continually improve our work over the coming years to ensure we build on our strengths, respond to the challenges and opportunities we face and establish ourselves as a key deliverer of young peoples work. The planning for the Youth Conference is well underway and we are pleased to announce that DRAZY will be attending as a special guest to perform and speak to the young people about his journey as a young person into the world of music and production.

He will then lead a music workshop for the young people attending where Benjamin (Youth Worker) will also be involved where he will be working with the young people to shape how our studio runs over the next 12 months.

You spoke and we listened, as part of our Reaching Communities Project we have been asking local parent/carers and adults about the types of additional support that they would like to see within the local area and one of the most requested services was around debt and money advice.

With that we have partnered up with Birmingham Citizen's Advice to set up a weekly Debt and Money Drop in at The Pump.

Every Thursday from 11am - 1pm debt specialist Dave will be in our Sensory Room where anyone who needs advice can drop in for some advice (and of course a cuppa & biscuits)

As this is a drop in there is no need to book in advance

We are excited to announce that on Saturday 28 November 2026 we will be hosting our first YOUTH CONFERENCE🎤💯🙌

The aim of the conference is to celebrate all things young people, all things youth work and create a platform for the young people of East Birmingham to shape what youth work looks like for them as we enter 2027.

The day will be filled with guest speakers, performances, workshops, food and a space to share what is important to young people which will then be turned into our delivery plan for the next 12 months....

As part of our creative spaces we have two music studios which are available to young people wanting to develop their interest or passion in music making. Supported by Benjamin, young people can book in to begin their music journey. One space is kitted out with brand new iMacs for you to make beats, explore ideas and then record in our studio. We have a range of musical instruments too if you want to incorporate into your music making.

We have had an amazing first week of term time delivery with our schools returning and the evening programme created by young people going live.

Our first week of term has seen youth clubs, our SEN group and the return of our schools, we have had week one of our new Studio Sessions Music Project and our family home education group has also welcomed in a new family and began training to become self sustained moving forward.

With the bank holiday approaching it really is 'Feel Good Friday' and with that we would like to take the opportunity to thank the Million Hours Fund for supporting us to provide extra sessions and support to young people.

This funding has allowed for 12 additional sessions to be delivered over the summer holiday which saw 246 young people take part in activities which simply put would not have been available without the support from Million Hours Fund.

it doesn't stop there and we are looking forward to welcoming back everyone from next Wednesday for them to build the youth club programme in the build up to Christmas.

Thanks to Bring It On Brum for funding this opportunity and to our Volunteers who gave up their time to make the scheme happen and to all of the young people that took part in making a summer to remember.

Consultation is taking place to build on this with a new programme to take us up to December so keep an eye out for more activities to come.

Friday was our Creativity Day and the young people got to try a number of creative activities including graffiti, 3D printing, t-shirt designing and music production with 36 young people getting involved.

The sun was shining a little too much so we had an 'indoor' BBQ and a number of games available for those whose creative juices were not flowing!!!

We also had a visit from Compass who not only offered a space for young people to find out more about their services but their own creative activities in the form of bracelet making and stone painting.

As week 3 of the scheme has come to an end we have had an attendance of 498 across all of our activities so far this summer and with another action packed week planned we are looking forward to ending the scheme on a high.

We are over half way through our holiday activity programme and we have loved every minute of it.

This week is going to be particularly hot so activities will be amended to take the excess heat into account (particularly Wednesday and Thursday) and this will be communicated with all parents and young people.

Can we ask that where possible that the parents/carers of young people booked on this week come with a hat, water bottle and having put on sun cream before they arrive - any problems with this drop us a message and we will support you to make this happen.

Yesterday was Family Beach Day as 42 members of the local community joined our Youth Workers on a day out to Barry Island.

The sun was shining and a great day was had by all with members from a number of our projects coming together for a real community day out. This is our second year doing this and it has become a staple part of our yearly programme.

Everyone had a great time, here are just a few mentions!

DJ - "The day has made our summer; we would not have got away at all this year so thank you."

AK - "Beach day is the best, it is so nice to get away."

SM - "Today was a brilliant day, going away on our own can be difficult so it really helps when things like this are available."
