St Albans Community Association, Birmingham (2026)

The charity was established in 1983, with the commitment of a number of people, including Pat Ryan and Beryl Chandler. Pat remained on the Board until 2009 and although Pat is not directly involved in St Albans, she was still on hand for the support and advice we needed from time to time until she sadly passed away in January 2012. The organisation is funded by several means, including the local

authority, individual grant funders, donations and charges for services. St Albans prides itself on supporting members of the local to participate in a wide range of activities to improve their lives.

We still need foster carers in Sandwell. There are children and young people in Sandwell who need a place of safety and deserve a second chance at childhood.

Our major fundraiser #𝗣𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗗𝗮𝘆𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 is almost here — Saturday 20th June — and one of the ways money is raised is through the Prize Raffle.

We’re now on the lookout for donated prizes to help boost ticket sales and raise even more money for the National & Local charities supported by the Old Cross, Langley this year.

🌟 #𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🌟

What a brilliant week to celebrate the amazing people who give their time, energy and heart to our community 💛

Today we’re shining a big, joyful spotlight on our younger Volunteers — the next generation of kindness, compassion and community spirit.

✨These fabulous young women — 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙚𝙝𝙚𝙢 & 𝙉𝙖𝙤𝙢𝙞 from Cadbury College, and 𝙍𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙚𝙡 from our local Job Centre — join us on fixed‑term placements and have become an absolute asset to our Day Care service.

It’s been wonderful to watch their journey: arriving a little quiet and unsure, then growing into confident, capable young adults who throw themselves into every aspect of basic care and activity sessions.

Their enthusiasm is infectious, and their willingness to learn shines through every day 🌈

They’ve also supported some of our Table For All sessions, adding valuable social support experience and bringing fresh energy to the team.

🌟🌞🌼 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲!

Wow — we’re already almost halfway through the year… and this month is shaping up to be an absolute corker! 🎉💜

This week is 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 — our chance to celebrate and showcase our wonderful Volunteers who keep everything we do running with heart and kindness.

🎖️We’ll also be acknowledging 𝗗‑𝗗𝗮𝘆 and celebrating 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 later in the month.🏴‍☠️☠️

As we wrap up , we’re shining a light on the history that shaped both St Albans Church and St Albans Community Association .

St Albans Church has stood proudly in Smethwick for over a century.

Built in 1905 and consecrated in 1906, it replaced earlier mission rooms used from 1903 onwards.

Its Tudor‑style red‑brick design — complete with aisled nave and west bellcot — has been a familiar landmark for generations.

In 1984, that same spirit of community inspired Pat Ryan, Beryl Chandler and Barbara Bright to establish St Albans Community Association.

Today, we continue their legacy: offering support, activities and a warm welcome to everyone who walks through our doors.
