Another amazing Summer School at B:Music completed ✔🎵

One of our biggest cohorts to date with nearly 70 participants aged 11-19 taking to the Symphony Hall stage.

The week was filled with workshops, music making and so much talent.

Wow! We had such an amazing and emotional day on Sunday as our Community Spirit project 2026 came to a climax in a very special performance in Symphony Hall. In the 13th iteration of the project, we brought together nearly 400 singers from 9 local community choirs.

The mass choir was also joined by a group of musicians from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and an ensemble of professional gospel singers to perform the world premiere of a brand new work by acclaimed composer Ken Burton called ‘Gospel Reels’. The piece was commissioned by Black Voices specially for the event and funded by the John Feeney Charitable Trust.

Community Spirit is delivered in partnership with our Associate Artists Black Voices, and the performance was hosted by BBC Presenter Kath Stanczyszyn. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the generous donors and funders who made the project possible, including Arts Council England, Cross Country Trains, Pareto, First FM and Pemco.

What does it mean to be an Echo Rising Star? ✨

To celebrate 30 years of the project, we teamed up with our partner concert halls to ask some of our alumni this question. 🎉
Since 1995, more than 180 musicians have taken their first major international stage through ECHO Rising Stars. The programme gives young musicians the opportunity to tour Europe's leading concert halls, commission a new work, and develop their careers on an international stage.

This anniversary, we're looking back with the artists who started their journey here: sharing memories, reflecting on their experiences, and telling us, in their own words, what being an has meant to them. 💫

🎶 Free lunchtime music is back at B:Eats! 🎶

Join us tomorrow at 1pm in the B:Eats Café at Symphony Hall for a live set from , kicking off our new Live at B:Eats series.

Known as "The Female Jeff Buckley", the 19-year-old singer-songwriter creates honest, relatable songs inspired by personal experience, drawing comparisons to Jeff Buckley, Billie Eilish and Radiohead. Following a sold-out headline show at Birmingham's O2 Institute and festival appearances at Truck and Moseley Folk Festival, Bo is quickly becoming one to watch.

From an unexpected call-up at Moseley Folk Festival in 2021 to headline performances, album celebrations and a live album recording at Symphony Hall, our journey with Lost Notes has been one of the most rewarding artist relationships we've built.

Their story perfectly reflects what we're all about at B:Music – championing incredible talent, creating opportunities for artists, and inspiring a love of live music across Birmingham and beyond.

We're incredibly proud to support The Lost Notes and look forward to seeing where the next chapter takes them.

The impact of music goes far beyond the stage. 🎶

We're proud to share this wonderful feedback from St Bernard's Catholic Primary School following their involvement in Generation Birmingham at the Jennifer Blackwell Performance Space.

Hearing that young people found the experience enriching, inspiring and beneficial in ways they may not even realise yet is exactly why programmes like this matter. By connecting children with music, creativity and opportunities to perform, we're helping to nurture confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of the arts.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making Generation Birmingham such a meaningful experience for local young people.
