💙 "Living with someone who has half a working heart changes how you see the world."

This Saturday, 13th June, Ryan Miszkiel will walk 42 miles from Trentham in Stoke to Birmingham Children's Hospital in support of Little Hearts Matter.

Because the person he loves lives with half a working heart.

Living alongside his partner Kirsty has shown Ryan the reality of a single ventricle condition – the hospital appointments, uncertainty, challenges, and extraordinary resilience that so many of our families face every day.

So he's taking on 42 miles through the day and night to help ensure no family faces that journey alone.

If not, you’re not alone.

There are at least six different types of single ventricle conditions, and for many families, hearing this diagnosis for the first time can feel overwhelming, confusing, and frightening.

As a parent understanding what it means for your child, your future, and everyday life isn’t always simple and finding clear, accessible information can be difficult.

That’s where Little Hearts Matter comes in.

❤️ A huge congratulations and thank you to Fr David, Andy Purcell, Rob Horne and Si Ball from St George’s School in Chorley for completing HYROX Riga in support of Little Hearts Matter! 💪

After travelling to Latvia and taking on one of the toughest fitness challenges around, we're delighted to share that the team successfully completed HYROX Riga and raised an amazing £2,310 for Little Hearts Matter!

The challenge was inspired by Fr David's nephew, Harrison, who was born with half a working heart and underwent three open heart surgeries before the age of five.

After the event, Fr David said:

"I'm pleased to say we all made it through the HYROX, and emerged relatively unscathed at the end (though with a few sore legs as you can imagine!)"

We are so grateful to the team and their wonderful communities for supporting this challenge and helping to ensure more families facing a half a working heart diagnosis receive the support they need.

We're so excited to share something very special with you all!

We know that bringing your baby home after heart surgery is one of the most overwhelming, and hopeful moments a family with a half a heart diagnosis can face.

You're filled with love, but also questions. Am I doing this right? What do I watch out for? Who do I call?
That's exactly why we've created our brand new publication: "Taking Your Baby Home."

Written for parents of babies with a single ventricle heart, this booklet is designed to help you feel prepared, informed, and most importantly confident. It covers everything from general baby care, feeding and wound care, to recognising warning signs and knowing when to seek help.

Because every family deserves to feel ready.

The booklet is being shared with paediatric cardiac units across the UK, as well as you our members so get in touch with us directly should you want a physcial copy or click the link to access the eBook version.
