Every Christmas, Matts Mission Children's Charity - Making Smiles Glow works hard to bring happiness, excitement and festive cheer to children who are spending the Christmas period in hospitals and hospices.
The elves will visit children and families who may be going through an incredibly difficult time. These visits are all about creating smiles, lifting spirits and giving children something fun and exciting to look forward to during their stay.
Christmas should be a magical time for every child, but for those receiving treatment or care away from home, it can feel very different. By arriving in costume, handing out gifts, taking photographs and spending time with the children and their families, we aim to create special memories and bring a little bit of Christmas magic into hospital wards and hospices.
A huge part of making these visits possible is our annual Christmas Toy Appeal. Throughout the festive period, individuals, local businesses, organisations and companies support Matt’s Mission by donating brand new toys, gifts or funds.
These donations allow us to provide presents suitable for children of different ages and interests. Every toy donated can help brighten a child’s Christmas and remind families that we are thinking of them during what can be an emotional and challenging time.
Businesses can get involved by organising workplace toy collections, becoming a collection point, making a financial donation, supporting fundraising activities or encouraging staff and customers to take part in the appeal. Individuals can also contribute by donating toys, raising funds, sharing our appeal or helping us spread the word.
The generosity of our supporters is what makes the Christmas visits possible. From every toy placed into a collection box to every donation made, each contribution plays a part in creating moments of happiness for children and their families.
Our Christmas mission is simply to bring smiles, excitement and kindness to children in hospitals and hospices and to make their Christmas a little brighter.
With the support of our community, businesses, volunteers and donors, we can continue spreading Christmas cheer and creating special memories for children who need it most.

Children who are not in hospital or parents can come over to the Sanctuary of Smiles Hub this year and chose a gift of choice and we will also be carrying out visits 💛
