Thank you so much to everyone who has purchased books for our Reading with Love Project ❀️

We are looking for further donations of new children's books for our new Reading with Love project at Birmingham Women's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

When families arrive on the unit, they will be given a book bag containing Guess How Much I Love You. Each week, parents will be invited to choose a new book from our library. Families will receive a library card, and every book they select will be theirs to keep, helping them build a collection of books and memories from their time on the unit.

Our volunteers will also receive training to read to babies.

To make this project possible, we would greatly appreciate donations of new books suitable for babies and young children. Books can be dropped off at our hub or purchased directly from our Amazon Wish List, which is linked in the comments.

Thank you for your support.

A huge thank you to some of our amazing volunteers who attended their First Aid at Work training yesterday at our Neonatal Hub.

We’d also like to say thank you to Lorraine from Mini First Aid for delivering such fantastic training. The session was engaging, informative, and gave everyone the confidence and knowledge to respond effectively in an emergency.

It was a pleasure to meet everyone and hear the many different reasons that inspired them to volunteer with us. The enthusiasm, passion, and commitment shown today were truly wonderful to see.

πŸ“š Please Share – We Need Your Help πŸ“š

We are looking for donations of new children's books for our new Reading with Love project at Birmingham Women's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

When families arrive on the unit, they will be given a book bag containing Guess How Much I Love You. Each week, parents will be invited to choose a new book from our library. Families will receive a library card, and every book they select will be theirs to keep, helping them build a collection of books and memories from their time on the unit.

Reading to premature and sick babies has been shown to support early brain and language development, strengthen parent-infant bonding, and provide comfort during what can be a stressful and uncertain time. Hearing familiar voices can be particularly beneficial for babies receiving neonatal care.

Our volunteers will also receive training to read to babies when parents are unable to be at the bedside. This helps ensure babies continue to hear regular, soothing voices and allows families to know their baby is still benefiting from this important interaction when they cannot be there themselves.

To make this project possible, we would greatly appreciate donations of new books suitable for babies and young children. Books can be dropped off at our hub or purchased directly from our Amazon Wish List, which is linked in the comments.

Every donation will help us provide books to families on the neonatal unit and support the development and wellbeing of some of our youngest patients.

Thank you for your support.

A reminder that our Stay and Play session at Revolution Gymnastics Club is every Monday from 10:00am - 11:30 followed by tea and biscuits in the cafe.

This session is fully funded for babies and children (including their siblings) who have stayed in a Neonatal Unit or hospital.

It is suitable for all ages as there is space for everyone to play and parents to connect.
