In the middle of all the warmth and excitement of this season, many of us can sense it — that familiar rhythm of Christmas carols we sing year after year… same tunes, same words, same language.

Hey… would you like to try something beautifully different?

Welcome to Abí Olùgbàlà — Birmingham’s first-ever Nativity Musical performed in an African language. And guess what? The language is Yorùbá — one of the most musical and influential languages in Africa. You know what makes it even more unique? The entire language is built on the first three notes of the piano: do-re-mi. No wonder the Yoruba language "sings" so gracefully!

This December, you’re invited to be part of this historic moment.
Not only will the Nativity be presented in Yorùbá, but we will also enjoy a joyful community sing-along where people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and generations across Birmingham will lift one voice in this beautiful language. What a harmonious experience it shall be.

Admission is absolutely FREE, and this is truly for all ages — a warm intergenerational event where individuals, families and whole communities can take part.

Have you ever worked with children? The joy and fulfilment is indescribable! My name is Samuel Jonathan and I am privileged to serve as founder of the Royal Centre For Public Speaking, and founder of the Tell and Share Project. As part of this amazing community project, "Public Speaking For Children" allows me the honour of coaching these amazing 6 - 10 year olds. They are full of vigour and always make each learning experience exciting! The sad part for me is at the end of each class, when I have to wave them goodbye and wait another seven days before seeing them again. Most of all is the amazing transformation I have seen these amazing children go through. It is important to post this photo because, whether it's Taymia, Harris, Amir, Jodhveer, Ibrahim, Kiara or Malik, 20, 30 or even 40 years from now, after gracing global stages, impacting communities around the world, and inspiring generations yet to be born, they will look back at this photograph and smile with pride. We are so grateful to their parents for entrusting their children with us. Above all, the Tell and Share Project would not have been possible without my two children, My Generals, Jayden and Nicole. Each and every week, they selflessly give their all in ensuring that each class and learning experience goes smoothly. They are probably also making history as Britain's youngest Public Speaking Coaches! It is my heartfelt prayer that all of our children will make us proud and attain uncommon greatness.

Words cannot express how proud we are of our teenagers. As part of the Tell and Share Project, each participant of "Public Speaking For Teens" randomly picked out various inventions out of a box. The assignment was to give a presentation about the invention and the inventor. What these amazing teens did not know when receiving the assignment is that these inventions, that we so much enjoy today, were invented by people who had to struggle through the mighty tides of racism, discrimination and in many cases, poverty. They were Black and of African origin! In addition to celebrating our phenomenal course attendees at the Tell and Share Project, we proudly and heartily celebrate and the pioneering work of all Black inventors.
