of education and learning which improves the lives of
children, young people and adults.

Services for Education is made up of the Learning and Assessment Service, Music & Health Education Service. Together we aim to provide a comprehensive menu of professional development to support whole school improvement across six themes:
teaching and Learning, Assessment, Safeguarding, emotional health, wellbeing, EYFS, NQT Support, Leadership and Management. We provide high quality professional

development and training for schools and Early Years settings. Our support can be accessed through in-school and centre- based sessions. We are happy to work with whole staff groups, targeted teaching and support staff, governors and parents, or provide 1:1 consultancy. We are proud of our long tradition of supporting schools raising standards in the largest Local Authority in England. We aim to be responsive to school need and are here to help you to improve outcomes for your learners. We work with schools to identify the most effective methods of CPD by providing the highest quality facilitators - thus enabling the service to be up to date and aligned to the demands of the national agenda and the local context. The impact on the child is always at the heart of what we do.

As safeguarding practitioners, we understand the need to consider every factor that may affect a childโ€™s safety and wellbeing.

For neurodiverse pupils, those factors can look different - and if we miss them, we risk missing early indicators of harm.

Education Adviser, Claire Steele, explores the additional risks faced by neurodiverse pupils and highlights practical steps schools can take to strengthen their safeguarding practice.

Our Birmingham is a great example of how bring joy to people ๐ŸŽถ

Back in April, the group were invited to perform at NHS Englandโ€™s annual SEND awards, which took place in Birmingham on Thursday, 23rd April.

The event is organised to recognise good practice, focusing on multi-agency working, bringing together professionals from across education, health, and care alongside parents, advocates, and children and young people themselves.

It was an honour for the choir to be invited to be part of the awards, which took place in the Great Hall at Birmingham University - a wonderful new venue with fantastic acoustics.

Although small in number, those that took part really enjoyed performing in front of a new audience, including Georgia Gould OBE, MP, who also enjoyed the performance, and audience participation moments.

bring joy to children and young people with disabilities and their families by supporting our Birmingham Inclusive Choir.

We're still buzzing from the energy of last week's Cookathon and wanted to share some of our favourite pictures from the day! ๐Ÿ“ธ

It was a truly fantastic event where schools from across Birmingham, right through to Australia got involved in cooking up a storm ๐Ÿซ“๐Ÿฅ—

Five lucky student chefs at Barford Primary even had the opportunity to work side-by-side with Michelin-Starred Chef, David Taylor.

It has been great to spend a couple of days at Midlands Arts Centre this week for our Winner-Up events, as part of our Music Cares project, in collaboration with Birmingham Virtual School, working with looked-after children across the City ๐ŸŽถ

Tuesday and Wednesday saw nearly 40 young musicians from primary and secondary schools join us for a series of workshops, including DJ skills, vocal skills and drumming.

Participants, including their accompanying adults, then took to the stage for some shared performances, including massed ensemble pieces and DJ mixing.

Although we've hosted the primary Winner-Up in previous years, this is the first time we've hosted it for secondary schools, and it was great to see everyone enjoy the sessions as their confidence grew during the day.

A big thank you to everyone involved, including MAC Makes Music and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire who supported with workshops, alongside SFE Music staff.

As some of you may know, last month, trustee at SFE, Oli Wilson, and his friend and brass bandmate, Nathan Groombridge, walked the length of Hadrian's Wall: 135km from East to West, in order to raise funds for us โค๏ธ

We recently caught up with Oli to ask about his experience as part of Team SFE ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ—จ๏ธ ''It was a huge physical challenge, and though very tough - especially the last two days - was frantically rewarding! The highlights included some of the most amazing views in the UK, amidst a mix of bright sunshine, strong wind and driving rain and hail! I was delighted to have Nathan's younger legs keep us both going, as by the end I felt every one of my 45 years! The support from all those who donated kept me going when it got tough - I couldn't let them or the children down.''

A huge thank you to Oli and Nathan for taking on such a brilliant challenge for us! โค๏ธ

If you'd like to donate, you can do so here - thank you! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://buff.ly/AbDtXRp
