120,094 hours - that's how much time Birmingham's incredible volunteers gave to their local parks & open spaces between April 2025 and March 2026 - worth £1,615,264 in financial terms (based on the Real Living Wage of £13.45/hr), but truly priceless to the communities and nature that benefit every single day.
From gardening and conservation to litter picking, events, school visits and everything in between - this is people power in action. Our Friends Groups are proof that when communities come together to care for their local outdoor spaces, something really special happens!
Volunteering with a friends group is a brilliant way to get outdoors, meet people in your neighbourhood, learn new skills and feel a real connection to the place you call home. Whether you have an hour a month or a few hours a week, you'd be very welcome to join in with your local group! You can find your nearest Friends Group, here:
Thank you to every single volunteer who gave their time this year. You are what makes Birmingham's parks and open spaces so special.
