Thanks to all the local supporters who have dropped off donations to our warehouse this week.
These include Angela who dropped off the donations collected at Derek and Pauline’s corner shop on Midland Road in Cotteridge. Thanks to these legendary shop owners and their generous customers and neighbours.
Catherine from Bournville also delivered a wonderful personal donation, making a big difference to our stock.
If you would like to do the same, maybe marking a special event or birthday, take a look at our website to see what we need most and where and when you can deliver it.

Many thanks to our supporters who organise B30 Foodbank collections together with neighbours and friends.

We’ve asked some of our best and most regular donors just how they do it and this is a summary of their advice if you would like to organise a collection in your street or road:

*Local coordinators take a lead in circulating details of most needed food items through their local WhatsApp neighbour group.
* Details of central collection points (a couple of willing households) are also circulated and frequency of collections agreed.
* Donations are then delivered to B30 Foodbank warehouse by a nominated volunteer or two.

Successful collections can make a regular and big difference to our stocks and thanks again to everyone involved.

Pictured here is David, who together with neighbour Shaheen, made another monthly delivery from the kind and generous residents of Knighton Road and Badsey Close.

Sending thanks to all of our wonderful donors this week, including Jayden, pictured here.
Inspired by work he did at the charity Crisis over the Christmas period as part of his Duke of Edinburgh award, Jayden dropped off this fantastic donation to our warehouse this week.

This auspicious week marks the start of Lent and Ramadan and the beginning of the Lunar New Year, all times of reflection for people who celebrate Easter, Eid and the Chinese culture.

This can also be a time when we remember those less fortunate than ourselves and strive to do something positive. If you are looking for a way to help others and mark your religious celebration, please remember the foodbank.

There are lots of ways to donate, whether that’s food or cash, and details for all are on our website at B30.foodbank.org.uk/donate.

In the meantime, if you can afford to put a few items aside when shopping, this is the current list of our most needed and always welcome food items. Thank you.

For lots of people, January can mean the cupboards are bare.

January can feel like a very long and tough month for a lot of us, but for those who need to turn to foodbanks for help it can be particularly hard.

Even working people feel the pinch this month as bills come in, Christmas is over and payday can see a long way off. This is why our client list often peaks in January while donations unfortunately drop.

If you can see your way to donate this month, perhaps via a community or street donation, a collection at your workplace or school, or by dropping something in a local supermarket collection basket, we would really appreciate it.

Take a look at our website at B30.Foodbank.org.uk/donate to see what sort of items we need most or how you can make a regular or one off financial donation. Thank you .

January donations are especially important and very much appreciated as we know how hard this time of year can be for everyone. It’s a long month and one that people find difficult, but if you want to do something positive why not organise a Foodbank collection where you work, live or go to school?

Two of the great donations that came in this week included a fantastic 122.9kg of food from the University of Birmingham School, pictured, and 62.5kg of food brought in by Mike from Longbridge Baptist Church. Thanks to everybody involved.

For more information about what, how and where to donate, including cash, take a look at our website at B30.Foodbank.org.uk/donate.

Boys’ Brigade collection stretching into New Year.

As we leave 2025 behind we are so grateful to the many supporters coming with us into the new year.

Happily this includes the young members of the Boys’ Brigade at Cotteridge Church. This week we heard that the collection they started earlier this month is set to continue into January - thank you to all those involved and who have contributed so far.

January is typically a busy time at the foodbank, so if you, your community, school or workplace can collect and donate, we would be very grateful.

Our volunteer Declan has put together this comprehensive list of places where people can access help over the Christmas period. He has even including bus routes! Please share if you know someone this could help.
