We were honoured to welcome Bill Hunt at TMR - formerly of Hunt Bros, Oldbury, who used to own and run the Sutton Miniature Railway. He was responsible for saving the Sutton Collection in its entirety after closure and is seen here sharing memories of his favourite loco - Sutton Flyer - with one of our volunteers, Jake Jowett.

Following some nifty manoeuvring and bit of shunting Sutton Flyer is reunited with her tender and is pushed back into the loco shed by members of the team

Our latest volunteer, and Birmingham Carburettor expert, Tony, has done a fantastic job of refurbishing the carburettor to be refitted back to petrol railcar No.4 Dudley. It will be a great improvement to the performance of the engine which we now know was built in 1930 and will therefore soon be 100 years old!

Indeed a sad time, and thanks to RMR for alerting us to it. John was a great proponent of the SMR and its historic collection of locos and carriages. With John’s passing we now have an added dimension to the work we are doing to the Sutton Collection, not just for its historical importance, but now in John’s memory.
RIP John Tidmarsh.

In memory of our friend John Tidmarsh, enthusiast and historian of the Sutton Miniature Railway, who we learnt today has died.

A view of one side of No.4 “Dudley”’s 1930’s Morris commercial engine. Quite a bit to do in order to get it working - every item removed appears to need refurbishment. So far the water pump and the carburettor are being overhauled prior to being refitted, but more items will doubtless follow!
