💖Every penny you donate to Anawim makes a real difference to us and the women we work with. The cash that comes in through fundraising is spent on many of the things that keep the centre going... that could be the foodbank, craft supplies, or equipment for the garden. It's all vital, and it's all appreciated. Thank you. 💖

🌟 Case Study Spotlight: Anawim Birmingham's Centre for Women

Anawim - Birmingham's Centre for Women has shared a powerful case study showing how the Women’s Risk Needs Assessment (WRNA) supports tailored, gender-responsive work with women. Through the WRNA Expansion Programme, The JABBS Foundation for Women and Girls and Henry Smith Foundation are supporting more organisations to take part in this evidence-building work.

The programme is strengthening understanding of what works best for women in the justice system, supporting the case for long-term investment in and specialist services.

⚽We always hear about a rise in domestic violence when there's football on... and a rise in violence if it's hot. We wanted to see what actually happened here, during the World Cup, so we asked West Midlands Police for the figures.
📈They show that together, football and hot weather are a toxic combination. In one July fortnight there were only two days where 999 calls, and reported offences were below average. During that time temperatures were between 22 and 33, and England played four times.
📅On the 12th of July - the day after the men's team beat Norway - there were 270 calls to 999, and 370 offences reported. Hot weather and football games work as an amplifier in situations that are already dangerous. There is no excuse. Read our full story here: https://anawim.co.uk/news/football_domesticviolence/

🚨An emergency alert was sent to mobile phones on Friday night - warning us about the risk of wildfires. However, if you have a second phone as part of a safety plan that alert might have been dangerous in itself. Even if phones were on silent the alert still made noise.
📱You can turn this off in settings. Swipe through to see how.
