🔥🎆 PENRITH YOUNG FARMERS ANNUAL BONFIRE IS BACK! 🎆🔥

After welcoming our local community last year, we’re looking forward to welcoming you all back for another brilliant night! 🎇

Join us for our annual bonfire and firework display, with the fire being lit at 6:30pm and fireworks to follow. There will also be food and drinks available to buy throughout the evening. 🍔☕️

On Tuesday, we tried something a little different with a scarecrow-making meeting! 🌾

The scarecrow challenge is an NFYFC challenge for National Young Farmers’ Week, with clubs across the country getting involved.

With lots of members taking part, the group worked together to create their scarecrow scene, representing three generations within the farming industry and how everyone has a place and plays an important role. We also included our recent Young British Farming Awards ‘Club of the Year’ award in the scene, which we’re incredibly proud of! 🏆

A completely new type of club meeting for us, but a brilliant evening of teamwork, creativity and a bit of healthy competition! 🌾

National YFC Week takes place from 5th–9th October, so it’s a great opportunity to celebrate everything Young Farmers’ Clubs bring to their members, communities and the wider rural industry. 💚🖤

WHAT A BUSY WEEK PENRITH YOUNG FARMERS HAVE HAD☺️

Sunday the club had a stand at Frame & Swift Limited Practise Open Day🐄Lots of very happy children with their faces painted by our talented members. Lovely be asked to attend along with other businesses and charities.

On Tuesday night our meeting was a talk and tour of Park Foot Holiday Park by Barbara who talked us through the history and development of the holiday park🏕️

British Farming Awards were kindly hosted at Cannon Hall Farm on Saturday; Jackson, Tom, Lauren and Kathleen attended the awards ceremony.🏆WE WON🏆Young Farmers Club Of The Year🇬🇧As a club we are very proud to have won this award.

🚗Yesterday we held our Car Treasure Hunt with 31 cars in attendance and just over 100 people (+ 3 dogs!!!)🐾This was a brilliant success for the club and the feedback has been brilliant, everyone then enjoyed coffee, cake and a catch up at the village hall to finish. Thank you for the support💚🖤

Another fantastic achievement for the club💚🖤

The winner of Young Farmers' Club of the year 2026 is... Penrith Young Farmers!

Penrith Young Farmers Club has marked its 90th anniversary year with an ambitious programme of events, fundraising and community initiatives, demonstrating the enduring value of Young Farmers to rural life.

Members welcomed more than 3,000 people to the Penrith Bonfire and Fireworks, raised £4,500 for RABI through their anniversary ball and supported local agricultural shows and Cumbria Harvest Festival. They also created a 90th Anniversary Exhibition at Rheged, showcasing nine decades of the Club’s history and contribution to the community.

One of the year’s standout achievements was the revival of the Penrith Rally after a 25-year absence following Foot and Mouth Disease. Working with former members, advisers and volunteers, the Club successfully restored an important rural tradition for a new generation.

Alongside social and practical activities, Penrith YFC provides opportunities to develop leadership, communication and farming skills, while supporting members’ wellbeing and raising money for charities. With members giving their time, energy and enthusiasm, Penrith YFC continues to bring young people together while making a meaningful contribution to rural communities.

🏃‍➡️ 1,048.20 miles, £8,000 raised and Speed Shear to finish!🐑

As part of Penrith Young Farmers’ 90th anniversary year, our members took on an ambitious 24-hour charity challenge at the end of July, setting out to cover 900 miles in 24 hours in aid of Great North Air Ambulance, Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Children’s Hospice.
We didn’t just reach our target — our members collectively covered an incredible 1,048.20 miles in 24 hours, together with the fantastic support we received, we have raised an amazing £8,000 for the these charities. 🖤💚

A huge thank you to everyone who made it possible, from our sponsors and supporters to those who provided facilities, equipment, sheep, music and their time.
We are particularly grateful to Castle Guards Farm Luxury Glamping Retreat, Frame & Swift Limited, H&H Insurance Brokers, Waitings Ltd, Fibrus, D&C Fawcett, NatWest, Aspatria Farmers, Stobbarts Feed Mill, Heather Glen, Frank Bird, Dodd Accountants, The Ernest Cook Trust, Rach’s Bakes, Lowther Estate, Westmorland Family (Rheged) and John Richardson & Sons Timber Merchants for their support.
