Role Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand‑new, forward‑thinking project designed to reduce the harms associated with gaming and gambling. Developed through successful business growth and delivered in partnership with expert organisations, this project brings together Citizens Advice, two specialist GRH organisations, people with lived experience, and an academic partner. Together, we are working with VCSE organisations to reach young people and adults across Solihull.
As a Community Support Engagement Worker, you will play a key role in preventing gaming and gambling related harms by delivering engaging, accessible presentations to at‑risk community groups. Your work will help reduce health inequalities by ensuring people know how to recognise harm early and where to access support.
About the Role
You will join a team of paid and volunteer community‑based workers delivering specially designed, expert‑led presentations to groups of young people and adults.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver multiple pre‑prepared presentations each week to groups of up to 10 people
- Engage with communities where the risk of gambling‑related harm is higher, including areas of deprivation and other vulnerable groups
- Build awareness of the harms associated with gambling and gaming
- Help people understand how to access further support and treatment services
This is a community‑focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, speaking confidently in front of groups, and making a meaningful difference.
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be an expert — we’ll train you. What matters most is your ability to connect with people and deliver information in a warm, engaging way.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Personal or professional experience of gaming/gambling related harms, or experience supporting someone affected
- Confidence and enthusiasm for presenting to groups of young people and adults
- A charismatic, engaging communication style
- Empathy, compassion, and the ability to build trust quickly
This role requires an enhanced DBS check (funded by us) due to work with children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
