FastAid - Solihull & Birmingham

FastAid - Solihull & Birmingham CFRs provide live saving treatment to patients in local communities.

Established in 2005 FastAid (registered charity number 1117114) provides Community First Responders (CFRs) to the West Midlands Ambulance Service in Birmingham and Solihull. CFRs are volunteers trained to a nationally recognised qualification which is endorsed by the Faculty of Pre Hospital care by the royal college of surgeons Edinburgh. CFRs are ‘called out’ by West Midlands Ambulance Service if they can reach a life threatening situation quicker than an Ambulance Crew. Community First Responders normally cover an area approximately 7 minutes travelling time from their home or work place.

🏆 A wonderful achievement for FastAid! 🏆

Tonight, we were incredibly proud to be recognised at the Community Inspiration Awards 2026, where we were named 1st Runner-Up in the Public Services Award Category.

While we may not have taken the top spot, being recognised among so many fantastic organisations doing incredible work in the community is an achievement we are genuinely proud of. 💙

This recognition belongs first and foremost to our dedicated volunteers. Their commitment, compassion and countless hours of service make such a difference to the people and communities we support. Every act of kindness, every hour given and every person helped contributes to what we are able to achieve together.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers and supporters for believing in what we do and for standing alongside us. Your encouragement and support help us continue our work and make a positive difference in our community.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the panel of judges for recognising our work with this award. To have our charity selected as 1st Runner-Up in the Public Services category is a tremendous honour.

Tonight is a chance to celebrate everyone who makes our charity what it is. We are incredibly proud of our team, grateful for our supporters, and inspired to keep doing what we do.

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Kaz, Chairperson of FastAid Community Responders and a serving WMAS paramedic, has been shortlisted for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Community Inspirations Awards 2026! 🏆

We’re delighted to celebrate our fantastic FastAid responder, Rachel, who has been awarded our September Responder of the Month award! 💙👏

Rachel has consistently gone above and beyond in her commitment to FastAid and the community, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.

During August 2026, Rachel dedicated over 70 hours to responding, providing vital medical cover at multiple community events while also supporting numerous CPR Awareness sessions. 🩺❤️

🏆 A Huge Congratulations to Declan! 🎉🚑

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our FastAid responder, Declan, who was recently awarded the Community Initiative and Partner Award by West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS)! 💙👏

The award was presented by the Chief Executive of WMAS at a special awards ceremony, recognising the valuable contribution Declan has made to our community and the ambulance service.

Over the past year, Declan has:

🩺 Trained over 1,000 people in CPR and Stop the Bleed training, helping to equip members of the public with potentially lifesaving skills.

🚑 Supported the training of new Community First Responders (CFRs) at the WMAS Academy and out on the road, mentoring and supporting our newer members as they develop their skills and experience.

Declan, thank you for your hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment to the community, West Midlands Ambulance Service and FastAid. Your passion for sharing lifesaving skills and supporting others makes a real difference, and we’re delighted to see your efforts recognised in this way. 🙌💙

What an amazing day! 💙

Our fantastic team of FastAid volunteers were delighted to provide event medical cover at the Hampton in Arden Fun Run, helping to ensure everyone could enjoy the event safely and with peace of mind. 🩺🚑

🩵 FastAid’s Impact So Far This Year — Thank You, Severn Trent Community Fund

So far this year, FastAid Birmingham & Solihull has provided more than 4,455 hours of dedicated volunteer resource to the West Midlands Ambulance Service, attending over 1,000 emergency incidents across Sutton Coldfield, Solihull & Arden, and Birmingham.

Our responders arrived first on scene in 65% of these incidents — often reaching patients before an ambulance crew — and arrived with the crew in a further 7% of cases. Of the incidents attended, 323 were Category 1 emergencies, where patients required immediate, life‑saving intervention such as CPR.

This level of support simply wouldn’t be possible without the incredible backing of the Severn Trent Community Fund. Their funding keeps our six response cars on the road every single day, ensuring our volunteers can reach patients quickly and safely when every second matters.

🎉 FastAid at the Castle Vale Festival 🎉

On 22nd August, our volunteers were out in the community at the Castle Vale Festival, engaging with plenty of members of the public and sharing more about the work FastAid does across Birmingham & Solihull.

Our responders were extremely grateful for the support, interest, and warm conversations they received throughout the day. It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved, asking questions, and taking part in our CPR Awareness Training, helping build lifesaving confidence within the community.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by — our volunteers had a great time and loved being part of such a vibrant local event.
