NEWS: Bishop Michael commissions new Warden and Co-Warden of Readers

Congratulations to our new Warden and Co-Warden of Readers, Maggie Forknell and Charles Mazungunye 🙌

Readers are Licensed Lay Ministers who share in ministry alongside clergy colleagues. They are dedicated to faithfully teaching and preaching, enabling mission, assisting in pastoral care, and leading in churches and chaplaincies.

We’re delighted that Maggie and Charles will lead and support our cohort of over 250 Readers here at Church of England Birmingham.

Clergy from across Church of England Birmingham gathered for a Bishop's Study Morning exploring how digital technology can help churches connect with their communities, communicate more effectively and support mission.

Led by The Church of England team, the morning combined practical teaching, giving church leaders the opportunity to explore digital communication, exchange ideas and learn from one another.

Celebrating 150 years of Mothers' Union

This year, Birmingham Mothers' Union is celebrating 150 years of supporting families and communities through faith in action.

As part of the celebrations, hear from Rowena, Diocesan President of Mothers' Union Birmingham, as she reflects on the impact of Mothers' Union's ministry and the difference it continues to make across Birmingham and beyond.

You're also invited to join a special service of thanksgiving at Birmingham Cathedral this Saturday at 3pm as we celebrate this milestone together.

We're celebrating another year of flourishing church schools 🙌

Headteachers from across Birmingham and the wider region came together at our Annual Strawberry Tea to reflect on the past year and celebrate achievements.

The afternoon also recognised schools completing statutory church school inspections and gave thanks for leaders beginning new chapters, including Director of Education Sarah Smith MBE as she retires after 11 years of faithful service.

We're delighted to celebrate the work of Birmingham's Mthr Charlotte Gibson, whose bespoke icon of Esther was commissioned by the Diocese of London and presented to Archbishop Sarah to mark her consecration as Archbishop of Canterbury.

Prayerfully written over many hours, the icon reflects the rich tradition of Christian iconography. It is both a work of art and a profound expression of faith.
