This time last week, we ran two mooncake-making workshops as part of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations. One person came all the way from Norwich to take part! The feedback was great. We plan to run more practical workshops so people can learn how to make traditional Chinese dishes. Tell us if there's anything you'd like to learn. Huge thanks to the 4 volunteers who ran the workshops- from planning, shopping through to delivery 🙏

Some more snaps from Thursday 1st October: International Day of Older People. We met people who migrated to Birmingham more than 60 years ago- long before the city had a Chinatown! We appreciate the effort they made to attend the event- it's important that we capture their stories for posterity.

There was a great vibe- it was wonderful to see so many of the elders gathered together 👏 We'd like to start 1:1 interviews towards the end of October. If you know anyone who would like to take part, please contact us 0121 685 8510. We're looking for volunteers to help with interviewing (Cantonese, Hakka and Mandarin speakers), producing the display for the BMAG exhibition, photography/videography... other roles are likely to emerge when the work begins.

CCC-B Walk Group returns to the Clent Hills, this time to see the Autumn trees. Thanks to a grant from Go Jauntly, we're able to cover train fares for this walk. Our walks promote fitness, fun & friendship 💚

Sunday's rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm of children wanting to make rabbit lanterns at Mid-Autumn Festival. Thanks to the volunteers who prepared the kits, and those who ran the workshops on Saturday and Sunday 🙏🏻

We had a great day helping children make jade rabbit paper lanterns. Our cultural dance group Wan Sheung performed underneath the giant moon in the Arcadian. We're back tomorrow - find us on the upper deck.

It's that time of year again- there are several myths & legends behind Mid Autumn Festival and the mooncake tradition.

Please come and see us in the Arcadian- Saturday & Sunday. Our children's craft workshop starts at 11am and runs til 3pm or when materials run out, whichever comes first. There's a small charge for materials. Our dance group Wan Sheung will perform at various times during the festival.
