Following the fantastic response to our first Repair & Share Hub, we’re pleased to be bringing it back to The Springfield Project on the third Thursday of every month, starting 17th September!

At our first session,13 items were successfully repaired– from sewing rips in dresses, repairing bags and replacing zips to fixing lamps, laptops, a food blender and an Xbox controller. We also had 5 clothing swaps on our Honesty Swap Rail! 👗💻💡

Grab some hot lunch & drink as part of the weekly Place of Welcome community lunch whilst you wait!

Please book where possible and answer the short diagnostic questions about your item. This gives our repairers a chance to understand the problem in advance, prepare the right tools and purchase parts for potential fixes.

Please note: Booking helps us prepare but does not guarantee that your item can be repaired.
Repairs are first come, first served, and during busy periods we may limit repairs to one item per person so everyone gets a chance.

Walk-ins are welcome too!

♻️🍞 Allens Cross Cooking Club

September Edition: Waste Less, Save More!

To celebrate , our next FREE cooking class is all about wasting less, saving more and making the most of the food we already have.

We'll be making a delicious savoury strata – a comforting bread-based dish that's a brilliant way to transform leftover bread, vegetables and other surplus ingredients into something new. 🍞🥕🧀

Along the way, we'll be sharing practical ideas for using up leftovers and surplus food, reducing food waste and stretching your food budget further.

We are excited to be supporting Birmingham Heritage Week 2026 and exploring local heritage sites & events this year by bike 🚲🙌

✨ From 11-20 September, our city will come alive with spectacular tours, talks, and experiences celebrating Birmingham's rich history and culture. Whether you want to uncover local hidden gems, explore stunning historic buildings, or enjoy unique family-friendly activities, there's something for everyone.

✨ Roti Reinvented – Zero Waste Cooking Class | 8.09.26! ✨🥙

A Cultural Fusion Cooking Class with Martha (ex director and Baker from Loaf, Stirchley!)

Celebrating Zero Waste Week 2026 – 7th to 11th September! ♻️

Bread and flatbreads are everyday staples, but these products are also among the most wasted foods in UK homes. In fact, we throw away around 960 tonnes of bread every single day!* 🍞

Join us for a fun, hands-on cooking class where we'll give leftover rotis a new lease of life and show just how versatile they can be!

Together we'll be making:
🥧 French Mini quiches – using roti instead of pastry
🧀 Mexican Quesadillas – using roti as a tortilla wrap
🍞 British Bread & Butter pudding with a roti twist! 🍫

All recipes are family friendly and designed around using up leftovers and scraps, while showing creative ways to use everyday ingredients differently.

You'll pick up practical cooking skills, discover money-saving ideas and learn simple ways to make the most of the food you already have at home.

⚠CANCELLED Led Ride – (Extreme Heat)⚠Thurs 13th August⚠

🚲 Due to the official extreme heat weather warning, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the led ride scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 13th August - 6pm from the Hub on the Green

🥵Extreme heat can be very dangerous for outdoor activities and increases the risk of dehydration and heat exhaustion. Hopefully the weather for next week will be a bit cooler.

In the meantime, if you do decided to go out for a ride, plan ahead with Cycling UK's tips for cycling in hot weather 👇

We loved our two wild days at the hidden Pitts Wood in Quinton and couldn't have done it without the tireless support of Friends of Pitts Wood's wonderful Clare!

We hope to be back at this beautiful piece of ancient woodlands in urban Brum very soon.
And if you're looking to support your local green spaces, go and visit on their open working days, volunteers needed, next is on Sat 29th August!
