✨ Restoring independence, rebuilding lives ✨

Thanks to ROC funding, 7 specialist wheelchairs are now supporting patients on the Bone Cancer Ward 💙

Designed to help patients safely explore the hospital and spend time outside the ward with loved ones, they are already improving mobility, confidence, and independence.

After months of unexplained pain, Martha received news in November 2024 that she had a large bone tumour on her pelvis. What felt like a pulled muscle turned out to be a Giant Cell Tumour of bone.

Since then, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital has supported her every step of the way—and now she’s giving back!

Over the weekend, Martha climbed Ben Nevis, raising over £1,100 (including Gift Aid) for ROC. Although they couldn’t see much from the top, reaching the summit was a humbling achievement, reflecting just how far Martha has come on her journey 💙

“Had I been more aware of the symptoms, I may have sought help sooner.”

Martha is not only fundraising but also raising awareness to help others recognise the signs earlier.

A huge, heartfelt thank you goes out to Adi, who absolutely smashed the Manchester Marathon last weekend in support of ROC.

Completing her first ever full marathon in an incredible time of under 3 hours 45 minutes is an outstanding achievement, and she also raised over £1,000, including Gift Aid. An amount that will go a long way towards supporting patients at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
