Shehla will be joining us at our Diversity Conference next month for an interactive session on inclusive leadership and its role in navigating change in general practice.

The session will define inclusive leadership, explore why it matters, and prompt attendees to reflect on their own leadership behaviours. Shehla will highlight common challenges and share practical actions leaders can take to build trust, improve collaboration, and lead more inclusively in everyday practice.

Shehla is a GP Partner in Derby with a portfolio focused on equality, diversity, inclusion, and research. She serves as EDI Director for General Practice across Derbyshire and act as Research Inclusion Lead for the local system.

She co-edited the ABC of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Healthcare and hold a national director role within the British Islamic Medical Association. Much of her work centres on inclusive leadership, workforce equity, and building fairer systems in healthcare for patients as well as colleagues.

Outside work, Shehla has two children and enjoys hiking, reading and has recently taken up the more sedate hobby of embroidery(!)
