At our recent Eid celebrations, we worked with Khawateen Creative Minds to host a joyful community event.

Held in the historic grounds of BlakesleyHall, the day brought warmth, belonging and pride to those who often spend Eid far from extended family.

Women came together to share food, music and tradition, some wearing donated sarees for the first time, celebrating the beauty of South Asian culture and connection.

"We may share South Asian roots, yet our cultures and traditions are beautifully diverse. Events like this let us celebrate that richness together. As a Muslim woman, wearing an Indian saree for the first time today was a small but meaningful moment of connection. Gatherings like this bring our cultures together and strengthen our community." 💛

✨ Display of Watercolour Paintings of Yardley’s rural past opens at BlakesleyHall ✨

A beautiful new display celebrating local artist Florence Mare opened today. Her atmospheric paintings capture Yardley’s countryside, footpaths and village life in the 1930s — offering a rare glimpse of the area before it changed.

Florence began painting later in life, and her work has become an important visual record of Yardley’s past. Visitors can enjoy pieces like A Footpath to Sheldon (1935) and discover the story of this remarkable local artist.

📍 Free entry to the exhibition in the Visitor Centre at BlakesleyHall.

This project supports adult men and women (not children) with mental health, healthy ageing, respiratory health and cardiovascular health, while helping people feel more connected, creative and confident.

It includes our arts, health & wellbeing cafés, walking sessions and seated yoga.

We’re so proud to see the Old Yardley Park garden restoration featured by the National Garden Scheme. Their Community Garden Grant has played such an important part in bringing the gardens back to life, and it’s wonderful to see the Historic Yardley project recognised.

Such a well‑deserved spotlight for Yardley Conservation Society, all their volunteers who’ve worked so hard. It’s been a joy to contribute through our flower craft workshop at the Garden Celebration.

A beautiful weekend at the 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The restored gardens at Old Yardley Park were in full bloom, and it was lovely to see so many people exploring and enjoying the activities. Our flower craft workshop was buzzing with visitors of all ages creating their own wool flowers.

We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and Mrs Zubeda Rashid, who visited the gardens, the flower festival at St Edburgha’s Church, and our workshop.

Huge appreciation to the Yardley Conservation Society, St. Edburgha's Church, the National Garden Scheme, and all the volunteers who made the event such a success.
