Q. How long is the window period for starting a course of PEPSE?
A. 72 Hours.

Post-exposure prophylaxis after s*xual exposure to HIV (PEPSE) is a type of medication that can be taken up to 72 hours after exposure to help prevent the contraction of HIV .

PEPSE is available from Whittall Street Clinic during opening hours, or from your nearest A&E department. A PEPSE referral is available from our Birmingham LGBT s*xual health team.

Q. What is the average waiting time for our STI walk-in service?
A. 15 Minutes.

On average our clients wait around 15 minutes to be seen by a member of our s*xual health team!

We offer instant HIV testing as well as assisted testing kits, which tests for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV. For men who have (or have had) s*x with other men, a test for hepatitis B is also included.

The Sexual Health team had some special visitors during Sexual Health Week, jealous? 👀Thanks to our friends at Birmingham Bulls RFC for getting tested at the centre and helping us spread awareness on it's importance!

We'd like to say a huge thank you for our recent donations, as a grassroots charity delivering services and support to the LGBTQ+ community, we rely on these generous donations from our community to operate.

Shake Shack UK have generously £670 from their LGBTQ+ month campaign.

Gillian Johnson has kindly donated £200 from money collected at her brother Peter’s funeral that he wanted donated to us.

Thanks to our community neighbour Wash Worx for their support and donation of £301.

Birmingham LGBT offers support to those having difficulties with drugs and alcohol. The support we offer is non-judgemental and confidential.

If you would like to seek support, please email the service at [email protected] or call 0121 643 0821 and ask to speak to someone from the substance support team.

Assisted s*xual health testing is also available at the LGBT centre so feel free to walk in and get one!
