Our Substance Support group 'Step by Step' held an art session, organised and facilitated by one of the attendees 🎨 The group was encouraged to use supplies to express emotions either felt in the moment or at a negative time. They were then given a prompt to turn their expressions into something positive ✨

Step by Step is a peer support group for LGBTQ+ people to come together in a safe and friendly environment for people who are at all stages of their recovery. We want to offer a space where people can share their journey and offer support to others on the road to recovery.

Our Emerge Trans Youth group held a Heartstopper event, where they had a screening of the new LGBTQIA+ film, Heartstopper Forever. They had decorations, a buffet and the Heartstopper book collection. This session was a big success and they celebrated all things Heartstopper!

On behalf of Birmingham LGBT, I am devastated by the attack on Berlin’s Christopher Street Day celebrations on Saturday night. where one person was killed and many more injured after a vehicle was driven into crowds in Tiergarten.

Our thoughts are with the victim, those seriously injured, their families, and the entire Berlin LGBTQ+ community. Pride is a celebration of freedom, love and visibility. To have that targeted with violence is an attack on all of us.

We stand in solidarity with our siblings in Berlin. We will not be silenced or intimidated. Hate will never win.

We urge anyone with information to support the German police investigation, and we echo Mayor Kai Wegner’s words that this is an attack on a free and open society.
